MY STAND ON DEATH PENALTY Society mainly uses punishment to deter prospecting criminals from engaging in criminal acts. For that reason, every country has come up with strategic laws to punish lawbreakers. For instance, payment of fines, serving a jail term for several years, life imprisonment, and death sentences are some of the verdict the court passes to punish lawbreakers. However, death sentence is one of the rare punishments passed against criminals in court despite the law allowing such a verdict.

Death sentence is the act of putting a person to death by the state for committing a capital crime. Although, capital crimes may be controversial among people, my view of capital crime entails serious crimes like murder and treason of country. Such crimes are intolerable and incomparable to human dignity thus, I support the court verdict on death sentences on capital crimes.Murder and betrayal of a country are unacceptable acts in the society. Moreover, the law requires a person to live in harmony with other people also be patriotic and defend the secrets and name of a country.

Therefore, committing of such serious crime with sanity of the mind a simple way of a person sealing the destiny of their life, which is death. Moreover, Article 6 of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights allows a country to pass verdict of law to any person who commit a serious crime (International Commission against Death Penalty, 2013). Ideally, seriousness of the crimes will differ among country but personally, betrayal of a country and murder are the major serious that renders no pity to the criminal.

I am certain, passing death sentence on such crimes would reduce the number of murder announced and encountered in this country and increase the level of patriotism in a countryAdditionally, both the natural and legal laws give every person has a right to life. Therefore, any person who stands against the rights to freedom of life stated in the law deserves not to be convicted to life imprisonment but to death penalty so as others could learn. The continuous murder cases around the world today have made murder seem like a daily experience in the society.

Although, people seem to be immune to the punishment of life imprisonment, such crime could minimize with passing of death penalty to the convicts. Hence, I strongly support death sentence verdict on every person who will be guilty of murder crime.Betrayal of a county is another capital crime that deserves no other verdict apart from death penalty. These crimes entail participating to act of terrorism and leaking out of a country’s information to their enemies. Moreover, the 2010 United Nations General Assembly resolution on “Moratorium on the use of death penalty” allows each state to identify the seriousness of a crime that deserves death penalty (International Commission against Death Penalty, 2013).

Therefore, betrayal of a country is the worst capital crime a person could commit for their country. Thus, their only punishment should be death penalty. Notably, most countries laws such as Afghanistan, Iran, and Kuwait advocate for death sentence for such a criminal. Additionally, I do support application of death sentence treason of a county. In conclusion, despite most people viewing death penalty as the worst act against humanity by the court of law, I strongly support such a verdict. Conversely, most people tend to forget the intensity and magnitude of the crime the criminal committed.

Moreover, sympathizing with murderers and people who betray their country is something that accelerates the widespread of such crimes. A country could struggle to keep the internal security tight may enemies but a person end up leaking out such sensitive information to the enemies. Thus, in my view such a person in the eyes of the law committed a serious capital crime and deserve death sentence as a penalty. Likewise, murder is denying a person a right to live so only death penalty suite a murder criminal.

Despite the ridicule from the society, I support admission of death penalty to any person who commits a capital crime like murder and betrayal of a country.ReferenceInternational Commission against Death Penalty.
