It is an important and much effective way of solving social crimes by working closely with members of the community who provide imperative information that assists police officers to track offenders and deliver justice to the affronted. The increase in underage drinking and street racing in Westwood can efficaciously be resolved using community policing while at the same time perpetuating professional ethics and societal expectations.

Use of COPPS will be imperative in mining vital information from members of the public and through scanning, analysis, response and assessment will utterly empower police to solve the prevalent problems of underage drinking and street racing in Westwood. IntroductionSocial crimes such as drugs trafficking and mugging continue to prevail in the contemporary society. It is intelligible that police agencies cannot handle such serious issues without encouraging public participation. The development of COPPS will be of assistance to condense causes and diminish social disorder through analytical devices and community-policy joint venture.

Scanning phase will be of prodigious support in channeling preliminary investigation and in establishing if underage drinking and street racing problem exist in Westwood. Scanning phase will help in identifying the actual area in Westwood that juvenile drinking is practiced. I will visit traffic unit so that I can get to know if street racing do exist in Westwood roads. After this, I will analyze data on underage drinking and street racing delinquency both from the public and police agency as this will be helpfulness in attaining substantial details for determining whether the two offenses are existent (Sozer, 2010).

I will use the analysis phase in solving the problems by first examining to which extend has underage drinking, and street racing problem broadened in Westwood. My major source is from the community and the police agency; therefore, I will initiate a solemn study that will help out in discovering the major cause of these two problems. In my study to underage drinking, I will try to explore what may be the its cause or navigating factors (Williams & Arrigo, 2008). This can help me to understand the key causes thus formulate the best strategies of resolving the issues.

Is it caused by young people’s curiosity of venturing into risk-taking or is caused by heritable feature and other ecological factors? Every part of this will be of much assistance in expressing the way forward in trying to solve the matter. In street racing, I will schoolwork on the chief foundation and hunt for authentication from the civic and traffic division towards solving this.I will come up with measures and procedures from the society and police agency that will help me in formulating both short-term and long-term solutions that will be effective towards solving the current issues.

The natives in the grassroots will smoothen the progress by revealing the group prone in selling alcohol to underage individuals. Also, they will help in identifying groups addicted to alcohol thus helping in offering guidance and psychoanalysis to them (Mishra, 2011). The police agency and the society amalgamation towards fighting street racing will be rewarding. The public can report to the police agency of eccentric lashing swiftness on our roads will help the law enforcement to track the vehicles involved.

In the assessment, I will evaluate the entire investigation procedure and scrutinize on how effective it will be in solving underage drinking and street racing problem in perspective of both long-term and short-term strategies. Foremost, the civic education should be conducted to create cognizance of how detrimental underage drinking may be to the society and also to be taught on the dangers of street racing. This will enthuse them to take responsibility of protecting the society by helping the police agency.

ConclusionCOPPS is very effective in crime prevention; commitment from public, government agency, police and nominated bureaucrat are imperative if community policing is to work effectively. Therefore, the police agency ought to constantly seek support to expand much opulence in their everyday duties (Leighton & Reiman, 2001). Scanning, analysis, response and assessment are critical concepts that can help in resolving the street racing and underage drinking in Westwood and transform the society to a better and ethical society.
