Extent of Drug Smuggling in U.SDrug smuggling has been a major problem in the U.S and completely eradicating it has been a real challenge. According to Uniform Crime Reports (UCR), the huge profits that the illicit trade generates have been the reason behind its sustainability (Eckberg, 2014). Cocaine is one of the widely smuggled drugs in the U.S (Mercille, 2013). It enters the country mainly through the Mexican border. UCR further explains that this type of crime recruits both men and women who are lured by the quick rise to wealth.. Corruption is one facilitator in drug smuggling and law enforcers are at times offered cash by the dealers. ii. Victims of the CrimeVictims of this crime are those who get into drug abuse because of drug availability. 3. ConclusionGovernment EffortsThe government has stepped up the fight against this crime with various policies and laws that empower law enforcers to nab suspects through searches.
