om the same Guns shop Galore in Killeen where Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan had purchased the weapons that were used in the November 5, 2009 shooting rampage that resulted to the death of 13 people and more than 30 people injured at the post’s Soldier Readiness Center. In relation to this, it was found out that the Lopez had not registered the gun as required. In addition to this, it is said that Lopez had been deployed to Iraq during the final period of the Iraq War in 2011. As it was introduced above, Lopez opened fire in a systematic way; he first opened fire in a building that was located in the 1st Medical Brigade area then drove to the second building that was located in the 49th Transportation Battalion area.

Like other terrorists, Lopez took his own life when he was confronted by a female military police officer (KWTX Staff, 2014). Lopez was successful in committing his terrorist plot because of the negligence portrayed by the criminal investigation department as well as the arms licensing department. As it was claimed by Miller in the article by KWTX Staff, the purchase of deadly arms from Guns Galore in Killeen was a common practice. It is from the same shop that Nidal Hasan purchased the firearms that were used in the November 5, 2009 shooting rampage.

It is the same shop that had sold deadly weapons to Naser Jason Abdo was plotting to set off bombs in the area Lopez had executed his plot. In relation to this, the firearms licensing department did not carry out their responsibility effectively. This is evidenced by the fact that they had not set rules that govern the carrying of unlicensed firearms such as the one Lopez used in committing the terrorist act (KWTX Staff, 2014). In relation to the above mistakes made by different departments, it is evident that Lopez terrorist act would have prevented.
