Task Comparison between Don Quixote and Amadis Don Quixote This novel is presented in Spain settings where Cervantes narrates how he travelled around Spain. He presents his life as a learner, a prisoner of pirates and a government representative. Government agent is shown through the adventures of the unfortunate and noble man. The novel represents the Spanish way of life during the seventeenth century with many hurting but sympathetic episodes. Cervantes wanted his novel to portray satire, but instead people interpreted it to be an ironic story where people are frustrated and mocked in a materialistic world. Love has been emphasized a lot in this novel. It is the main theme because most of the knights are driven by love. The book shows that love cannot be divided, and it should not be interfered or misused. People go to the extent of forgiving each other on serious matters like murder because they have love for each other. Characters like Don Vincent and Claudia have shown love and compassion by forgiving each other on these serious matters (Bandera 34). Don Quixote starts with a prologue discussing what the audience would expect in the seventeen century. This novel narrates about an old, gentle man who became mad because of reading many chivalric romantic books. The old man sacrificed his sleep for reading the romantic novels, hence became mad. The novel narrates how Don Quixote decided to become a knight. He travels around the countryside on his old horse with an intention of doing marvelous things to people. Many characters in this novel have different roles. There is the barber, the captive captain, cardenio, sansocarasco. Cardenio displays theme of love, he is in love with luscinda, but Don Fernando confuses him, and he gives up on her. After he discovers, that Don Fernando and luscinda are married he hides at the mountains where he witnesses Fernando wronging luscinda. He takes this opportunity to take luscinda with him where they go in a motel and reunite (Bandera 35). Sansso Carasco is a scholar who tells Don and Sancho Panza about the writing of their adventures. He encourages them to ride again but then he asks them to go back home. Sansso aspires to become a knight and ride at the countryside like Don. The novel is written in episodes and the heading of the book clearly shows us the main goal of the novel. Although the first chapter of the novel appears to be ridiculous, the theme of deception is clearly brought up in the second chapter. The novel is wide spread, and it has brought a strong bond in the Spanish language because it starts with Spanish words. The novel amalgamates medieval chivalric romance and modern writings. The medieval, romance shows a story that is unconnected while the modern novel explores its characters by studying their psychology (Saavedra & Ormsby 33). The novel Don Quixote is written in three different sections; the first section narrates Don Quixote functions, expeditions and accounts. It mostly narrates the romantic issues going around this novel. The romantic affair is the main subject to this part. In the second part, the novel explains what is happening in the first part. This brings confusion because flow of the book is cut short and the reader has to go back to the first section in order to understand what is happening. In the third section, the novel starts giving history of the book. It mainly points out past events that have contributed to this book. The characters history is given, and the cause of events is brought into light. This style of writing brings confusion and disorientation because the reader is unable to follow. The events do not flow in a systematic manner, and readers are unable to identify the lines that are based on reality. Don Quixote goes ahead and explains his reality life in the story thus presenting him as a mad person. This makes readers to be surprised because they do not understand how Don Quixote writes his personal life and releases it to the public. In the second section, Don Quixote makes the characters not to trust him by presenting himself as a liar. This is changed in the third section of the novel because he gives the readers facts to trust him. Don Quixote manipulates the reader’s minds by questioning the life style of the characters. He does this so that the reader can be able to understand the story well by looking at the details keenly. Don Quixote tries to appear in two different characters, he is advocating for people to take up their failure and embrace their old way of morality. He even goes ahead and confronts the priest about this issue. Don Quixote stand is not understood because after confronting the priest, he later agrees with him on the issue of morality (Saavedra & Ormsby 43). Amandis Amandis is extremely much alike to the novel Don Quixote because both of the books discuss love. Love is portrayed to be exceedingly complex in this book because the characters are going to extreme ends to achieve what they want because of love. The novel shows how love can affect the mentality of a person and end up doing crazy things. This book tries to explain how modern love is functioning and is getting to it sources, this is because medieval characters showed their feelings in a different way. The novel reveals a deception as the main character was born and left by his parents. This is because they did not want to be responsible for their actions. The novel tries to bring legendary as the main character is in the mission of fighting his opponents to the last point. It tries to bring a sense of heroism as the main character penetrates the guard of the opponent soldiers. The novel tries to bring the idea of the knights and their characterizations. This novel presents a modern way of narration, but it lacks communicating and giving an impression of the characters. The main issue it is concerned with is showing the events and happenings of the story. The language of the book is written in Latin thus controlling its style especially when the verb is placed at the end of the sentence. The present participle style is used in writing the novel thus bringing the character into the fifteen century. War and love are the main agenda in this novel, and its shocking nature has been highlighted. The main character in the novel Don Quixote mainly references Amandi in his heroic character, thus making the two novels identical. He tries to compare himself with him owing to their common issues. Don Quixote is the first modern novel because there in a lot of explanation in English, which makes the learner read with ease. The elucidation of the phrases makes the events to be understood easily. The novel is considered the first modern novel because satire and drama has been used for explaining and bringing out the main idea. Another reason that makes Don Quixote the first modern novel is the use of dissimilar language. Characters are able to understand each other despite the use of different language. Many books in classical literature used one language, but this novel is able to incorporate different languages. The author demonstrates and come up with modern issues in his novel by creating a lot of imagination. Don Quixote demonstrates what will happen in the future through the presentation of different wars. In the novel, Don Quixote, the author has presented the novel similarly to the current movies. This brings out the novel as the first modern novel. In this novel, there is a connection of dialogue with the genre language, which brings a lot of modernization. This novel is strikingly diverse and brings assorted moods within the characters and a love story. This modern novel brings about the connection of dialogue with genres and brings negation of purity. In this novel, there is a lot of uncertainty because the author is not known. This makes readers guess who the author is because many people seem to be narrating the story. This brings a lot of uncertainty thus making the novel modern. Uncertainty is extended to the characters; Don Quixote changes his name severally. This is noted by when he changes to a pastoral mood, his name changes. The horse, which is nameless at the beginning is named after sometime hence resulting to uncertainty. The magicians also change their names in the novel thus making it to be uncertain to readers. This issue of uncertainty has proved that this is a modern novel. Don Quixote is said to be the first modern novel because of how it brings out events. The book was written in the eighteen century, yet it is able to highlight issues that are happening in the present world. It is written in an imagination structure for readers to predict what will happen in the future. This style ensures that the reader is not confused, thus interested in following up the events. The novel has used many languages, which is an indication of modernization. Novels that were written in those days used only one language between the characters. This was to bring out uniformity in the novel to avoid confusion. This novel explains the Spanish language; this can be seen in the first line of the novel.
