Romeo and Juliet 1968 Review: Romeo and Juliet is a revolutionary master piece adopted from famous Shakespeare’s tragedy play in which actual teenagers played the lead roles. It’s the story of doom lovers who fall for each other in spite of the fact that an intense feud exists between their families for decades. It was filmed in a small village somewhere in Italy that adds charm to the story, but also matched the time and place of the original drama.Shakespeare’s work of literature reaches his best in tragic love stories.

The essence of this tragic love story is presented very well in 1968 version of the movie from cinematography and visual effects point of view. However, script of the movie was one of the strongest aspects of this movie. The scenes of the movie, the ball, the duels are so beautifully thought out for even an audience of today. The effects created achieved great success in two almost impossible scenes; the balcony scene and the last scene double suicide in the tomb. It is deeply moving piece of entertainment and that is possible what Shakespeare would have preferred.

The feeling of beauty that comes from purity and innocence of young love was amazingly expressed. The narrow alleyways, the stone pavement and the fountains all make the audience feel as though they are there in Verona.Romeo and Juliet movie (1968) was made without the modern technology, yet it was done in a beautiful way. It’s a classic for its staging, genuine costume, scenes, dialogue, sets, location and beautiful poetry. This tragic love story was present beautifully on screen with a deep sense of tragedy and sorrow mixed with deep emotions like love and selflessness in a way that can be considered to do justice with one of the best pieces ever done by Shakespeare.
