Client’s 31 October Edgar Allan Poe was a genius, The Cask of Amontillado is a great short story written by Poe. This paper will shed light upon three interesting observations from the story. Almost all the main characters hide their feelings and this process of concealing leads to a plethora of problems in the story. Montresor decides that it is the right time for revenge but he conceals his feelings after making the decision. “When Montresor decides that it is time to seek revenge for the "thousand injuries of Fortunato," he does not make his feelings known.

” (The Cast of Amontillado) Pride can lead to downfall this is perhaps the most important thing which must be learned from this story. Growth and prosperity completely stop when one becomes too proud of themselves and the same causes a lot of damage and in most cases the damage is beyond repair. The story is all about revenge, In Cast of Amontillado, Montresor plans to take revenge on Fortunato and the readers get to learn that revenge is a very powerful motive but a dangerous one so we must take revenge on anyone no matter what that person has done to us.

Montresor has shown extra ordinary planning to seek revenge on Fortunato, Poe has chosen this plot to tell the readers that revenge is something that must never be pursued and this is what the readers can learn from this short story. Even though the story is completely fictitious, it can be applied in the real world and there must be a lesson that should be learnt from it.Works Cited“The Cask of Amontillado.” Book Rags. Web.
