Twelfth Night Shakespeare’s play reveals the issue of revenge where the plot direction is towards malvolio. The person possessing vengeance in the play has a trait and significance associated with the tone presented in the play. The issue of revenge presents itself in a unique manner that seems to question the contrast in the presentation and perceptions of the issue. The vengeance in Maria causes her to resent against arrogance and unlikely turbulence. These issues results to an undermined state of the comedy due to conflicting impulses in the play.

The play’s genre and purpose becomes complicated due to the mixed roles that Maria portrays. Despite her actions of vengeance as seen in the play, Maria portrays the roles of nemesis, which culminates to umbrage and reprisal, unraveling contrasting issues in the play. For example, the use of revenge and still unravel the comic characteristics. The play’s tone depicts the requirement of the genre and presents the moral feedbacks that the audience may need to defy. The play portrays malvolio as a menace to the well being and position of Olivia’s family.

Malivio’s crimes seem minor but his vindictive character has driven him to commit crimes severally. He is thus, resented and perceived as evil and unjust by other people. The play presents to the audience, the indifference in Malvolio’s and Maria’s traits of revenge. The two portray wrongs that are bearable to the law. There is no law deal with them in an amicable manner. In the play, Maria and other antagonists build situations that trigger revenge. The encounter by the victims causes them to perpetrate vengeance.
