?Denver art museum Art is a practice found all over the world and is usually used to preserve cultural heritage. Museums are s for displayof artistic materials from different communities in the society. The drawings and sculptures are used to pass information to people, and they capture the mind of people quickly than speech can do. The decorations in the art can even be therapeutic, and some people are always excited about it (Denver Art Museum). Denver art museum is located in a rocky mountain, and the building itself is impressive in that it captures the interest of the visitor. Outside the building, there are red colored posts carved which are eye catching. This makes the visitor want to get into the museum and discover more artistic designs. The writings in the red carvings also interest the eyes of the visitor, and one want to know what is written on them (Denver Art Museum). The red carving near the entrance door is astounding. The building itself is impressive and spacious. There is enough space for parking, therefore, no struggle as to where the car will be parked when one visits the museum. The display room is large enough, and visitors can move freely without congestion. The information from Denver Art Museum website indicates that it covers an area of 356000 square foot and has spacious collection gallery, three temporary exhibition venues, and auditorium. The environment in the Museum is family friendly, and this makes it famous and recognized internationally (Denver Art Museum). The most enjoyable thing in the museum is the collection gallery where artistic materials from all over the world are displayed, and one is able to learn cultural values of those countries. The Asian Shiva, King of Dancers art is so attractive, and the way the curve is made with the dancing style. The paintings in the Renaissance painting section are also extremely attractive (Denver Art Museum). Olowe Ise, House post, 16 Nov,2011 http://www.denverartmuseum.org/explore_art/collections/objectDetails/objectId--104882. Three Dimensional arts. This is an African art that was done my Olowe Ise, and he used to carve posts which were placed on the door, to add beauty, and prestige in their homes. This House Post has a height of over five feet, and it illustrates a warrior seated on a horse and supported by two women and men. The warrior is carved deliberately large, and this depicts its prominence. The warrior is supported by two men and women, and this show that power is shared between the genders in Yoruba society (Denver Art Museum). Shiva Nataraja, Shiva, king of Dancers, 16 Nov 2011 http://www.denverartmuseum.org/explore_art/collections/objectDetails/objectId--104894. Three Dimensional. This is an art that is used in the Asian Society, and the dancer is seen in the carving lifting one hand, which means, that he is putting on rest fear, and the hand is pointed toward his upraised foot, and this symbolizes the feeling of release. Shiva also in his dance destroys the demon of forgetfulness illustrated in the form of an infant (Denver Art Museum). The two arts have similarities in that they are both three dimensional, and they represent the culture of their respective societies. Both of them are carvings. The two carvings use humanity, in that, the first one, the warrior is used who is a human being and the second, the dancer who is also human. However, the two have differences in that the materials used are different. The house post is made of clay and is cream like while the Shiva looks like metallic and has a silver color. The House post carve symbolizes power and war while the Shiva symbolizes entertainment and religion. This is because the former shows a warrior on a horse, and may be is set to go to war, and the latter depicts the dances in Asia, and the destruction of demons is religious. This means that the demons would be cast away through dancing (Denver Art Museum). Art is a lifestyle of Africans and is generally used to communicate a certain message among people as well as to gods and ancestors. The art is also used for personal therapy, whereby, the person can use the art to release stress. The history of African arts dates back in 500 B.C, in a village of Nigeria. Pottery was the dominant form of art during those times. The history of African art is known to have originated from different African countries in the 15th Century, and use to make sculptures of different styles. For instance, Cameroon grassland is known for its wooden carvings which included items like, house posts, masks, and objects used in rituals while Western Sudan and Guinea Coast are also famous for making wooden carvings. Nigeria is also known of making human figures using terracotta (Jason Gluckman). The commonly used materials used in the African art carvings are wood, clay, shells, ivory, beads, metal, and feathers. African art has been influential to other countries, for instance the western parts of the word, and this enhance economic development in the African countries, in that, they sell the sculptures to western countries. Also through tourists attraction the African countries gain prestige and acquire more finances from the sculptures (Jason Gluckman). The African art represents the culture of Africans, and apart from the religious function, the art is used for decoration in the houses. Making of the sculptures in the past was not costly because the natural resources were available such as wood and clay (Jason Gluckman). The Asian Art usually, revolves around entertainment, and this is mostly found in music. The Indian art is said to have originated 5000 years ago. Shiva is commonly known to have been created by Indian genius and symbolizes divine power. The Indian art is mostly connected to their religion and philosophy. The art in India is well seen from the cave excavation to the building of the Hindu temples (Hindu wisdom). The materials used when carving the Indian art includes stone and bronze. The Indian art plays a religious function and they are particularly eye catching as seen in the carvings of the Hindu Temples, and the wall paintings of Ajanta, and the artistic cave sites. The Indian culture is portrayed by their drawings, and the way they dress, and paint their bodies is evident that they value art and their culture at large (Hindu wisdom). Art valued globally and is very important in integration. Communities come together while trying to learn more about the different sculptures in the world Work cited “A Tribute in Hinduism” Hindu Wisdom, 16 Nov, 2011 http://www.hinduwisdom.info/Hindu_Art.htm Denver Art Museum, 15 Nov, 2011 http://www.denverartmuseum.org/home Jason Gluckman, History of African Art, 16 Nov, 2011 Read More
