Men in their quest for civilization do get desperate to shun away the fact that they are as much an animal, as a wolf or a squirrel. Perhaps it would be much saner on my part to define my economic needs while taking into consideration my animal heritage that I share with all the life forms on this wonderful earth. I don’t have to watch the television sitcoms, or crane my neck at the passing billboards, or mull over the advertisements published in the glossy magazines to decide as to where should I live, what should I wear and what should I eat.

My animal instincts are sufficient to suggest as to how I ought to govern the economics of my life (Thoreau 11). In consonance with my philosophy of life I intend to pursue an economics that systematically converges on “a primitive and frontier life (Thoreau 11).” So I emphatically intend to shun all such professions that come within the ambit of federal, state and local income taxes, Social Security Taxes, Medicare, Medicaid, retirement systems and employer assisted health plans. These expenses though claim 22 to 33 percent of a free man’s income, actually are akin to cutting a dogs tail to feed him.

Hence avoiding them will automatically obfuscate one third of my time I will spend on earning a living, which could be spent better on educating me. As for the shelter is concerned, my parents do own a house, mortgage paid, with a spacious kitchen garden, enough to feed a family of reasonable proportions. Considering the fact that none is ever privileged to be immortal, expecting to stay with my parents until I inherit that house is a fairly natural and healthy choice. Besides, they won’t mind access to a helping hand in their old age, which I take to be a duty of love.

I believe that energy consumption stands to be the biggest money depletory in the United States. When an individual in Angola could survive with 189 kWh of electricity consumption per year, a per capita consumption of 13,654 kWh in the US is positively sacrilegious, an abomination or perhaps an act of blasphemy (The World Bank: Online). I intend to limit my energy consumption to a single CFL and an energy efficient oven throughout my life, while relying on my sweat glands to cool me in the summers and some natural fibers and my body heat to keep me warm during the winters.

For the rest, like seeds and manure for the kitchen garden, some decent secondhand apparels (which go really fine if washed and bleached properly), bills accrued on bare necessities, money for public transport that I intend to resort to throughout my life and the like, I will have to engage in what a majority of humanity calls work. I have realized that a great deal of the contemporary economy is about paper work. One could find hundreds and hundreds of fellow citizens teaming outside the employment exchanges, hospitals, public offices, insurance firms, academic institutions, required to comply with a tortuous filling of forms and related paperwork.

Certainly these people won’t mind assigning this paper work to a freelancer for a couple of dollars. Well, this is the work I intend to pursue as my future career. Even if I
