Assuredly, identity to an in-group depends on traditions, social practices, and norms among others. I belong to the Protestants and Manchester United in-groups. My identity in these in-groups refers to my religious faith, Christian traditions, social practices, norms, and my sporting hobby.

Most significantly, based on my observation, the criteria used to define in-and out-groups are relevant though an additional consideration of lifestyle and age is quite significant. This is because lifestyle and age can play a huge part in making an individual identify with a given in-group. Indeed, there are widespread perceptions that individuals practising certain lifestyles tend to identify with specific in-groups. Moreover, young ages tend to be sporting fans more than their age. Personally, in identifying myself with protestant and Manchester United in-groups do not rely on race or ethnicity but on age, Christian traditions, social practices, norms, and love for soccer. As seen herein, membership in and out-group define one's identity and way of interaction. However, despite my identity, I hold respect for other groups and hence communicate with them in the realms of good faith and logic. Even as I seek to defend my faith in protestant and support for Manchester United in-groups, I equally avoid communication modes that may undermine out-groups.
