The genre of Turkish tales is mostly fictitious and it revolves around the morals that a person should possess. It provides the reader with a sense to prefer good over bad and right over evil. They also represent emotions like hatred, love and may contain the moral of a victory. These tales are full of fantasies with romantic lovers, noble warriors, giants, princes, princesses and other supporting characters which do not exist in the real world. The writer uses different techniques to portray the themes in accordance to the scenes.

The scenes portrayed in the story clearly depict the essence of the literary work. The prince and maiden are equally involved in each other and this can be seen through the misery that either undergo when they are separated. Shah Jussuf is one of such tales which describe the human emotion of love. Although the characters described are not purely humans, yet they are used to explain the importance of love or what happens when someone loses a loved one. The pain of loneliness is described very beautifully by the author with an explanation that whosoever has all the wealth of universe is not necessarily happy if he/she does not possess a close associate.

The author used the allegory of pure love and human sensation, particularly between a man and woman to portray the theme of the story. . He is shown as a very loving man who cannot endure the unwillingness of his wife. It is because of this that he makes his wife sleep by making her drink a kind of wine which makes her sleepy instantly. He then makes love to his wife every night when she is not fully awake. Over all, the tale is a good depiction of two of the basic human emotions; love & curiosity.

There is no life on earth without love, from Adam and Eve till today’s time, everyone falls in love with the ones he/she likes & admire and with whom he/she wants to be with. Similar is the case with Shah Jussuf as he cannot think of the separation between him & his beloved and thus he does not want to create such a situation at all which would make him suffer in the future. The maiden is a complete depiction of the inquisitive nature of human being. She is taken from a poor family into a palace full of servants, but instead of enjoying all these, she is curious to know about her husband whom she has never seen or met.

She wants to know what happens when she is asleep & afterwards before she awakes. Therefore, she does not drink that sleepy wine to meet her husband. The lead male character is a charming, handsome prince who believes in love and falls in love with the heroine. He is a committed man who wants to have a loving wife and a family of his own. In other words, he wants to convert his materialistic palace into a home, filled with happiness and gladness. But he was also afraid of losing his love and therefore avoids meeting her.

The heroine of the tale is a Turkish maiden who is from a poor family and married the prince in order to lessen the burden of her family. She is a lovely and beautiful lady who instantly impresses the prince when he sat eyes on her.
