Analysis of Virgil’s Literature of Aeneid Wording in the Aeneid of Virgil depicts clearly the transition between different forms of life including the change from ancient politics to the contemporary politics as well as change in indigenous traditional believes to the modern Christianity. The passage presents a series of theme that includes pietas or piety (described as dutiful respect). This can be translated loosely as a sense of an individual’s duty towards religious, societal, and filial obligations that formed the crux of morality in the ancient Roman. According to this literature, the ancient Rome or society was never friendly (Wiswell 06). For instance, in the Aeneid, Virgil records the Aeneas survived as the pietas embodiment. This is noted with the word phrase “pious Aeneas” and to emphasize on this matter, the phrase is being repeated twenty times throughout the poem. Therefore, the poem clearly depicts Aeneas as the owner, founder, or the father of the Romans and this is why he has taken or considered to present former quantities. Virgil illustrates that Aeneas is the father of quantities when he manages to carry Anchises for his father from what was noted as the burning Troy city. Aeneas notes the difficulties he had in undertaking his obligations as the father of magnitudes especially when he became the caregiver of his father. This showed his belief on the help of the ancient gods. A further indication of the ancient belief on the gods and goddess is depicted when Aeneas later ventures into the underworld to fulfill the wishes of the Anchises. After all these, his father pleases with him and expresses gratitude by saying he (his father) had him (Aeneas) at finally and appreciated his loyalty (Wiswell 05.” Moreover, he was asked whether he encountered his father on the journey (Wiswell 05).” It should be noted that the devotion of pietas attributed by Aeneas is depicted beyond his assistance and loyalty to his father. Aeneas is seen to be involved in a series of religious fervor (Wiswell 07). Aeneas is consistent in subservient with the gods and it is worth noting that Aeneas could attend to gods even if it were against its desires. It is noted that he said that, he went to Italy not of his own free will, (Wiswell 05), but it is due to a divine command. Other than Aeneas family and religious pietas, he also portrays fervent devotion and patriotism of his people especially those in the military capacity. Could this bid of devotion and patriotism subject of foreshadow of what was expected in the contemporary world. The repeated use of the word phrase of divine intervention portrays how this community valued religion. It is worth noting that the entire poem presents the constant influence of gods as they constantly try to change the impacts of the outcomes despite the obvious cause that is expected by everybody. In book four, the divine intervention is presented many times to emphasize on the significance of religion in this society. It is worth noting that Aeneas gets into a love triangle with Dido that delayed what was considered his ultimate fate to Italy. It can be depicted that the gods that actually inspired this kind of love. Despite this delay, Jupiter comes and restores the true path and fate of Aeneas. Moreover, Mercury is sent down to the dreams of Aeneas where he is told that it was a necessity that had been defined by the goods that he travel to Italy thereby the only thing he was to do was to abandon his newly found love (Wiswell 08). The power of religion in this piece of literature is actually powerful and committing especially when it is the powers that defined and dictates the fate of people regardless of their knowledge and contributions on the final outcome of every event. It may be stated categorically that the interventions presented in the passage in connection to another part of the Virgil’s writing, his writing may be regarded as the distraction that continued the postponement and conflict that has been inevitable in the contemporary world (Wiswell 09). In other words, if it may be interpreted that gods represented human in the current world, then just like human characters engage in power struggle and conflicts so are these gods. Moreover, it should be noted that there are some struggle between religion and political power. The changes in societal traditional and religious believes are also factors that are presented to be affected by the contribution of the gods. Other than dictating ones own life and feeling, the gods determined the fate of all persons in the community. According to Virgil’s writing, Aeneas falls in love, but Mercury and Jupiter later ask him to drop the love thing and moves on with what fate placed before him. He is told, to think that he being waited as the heir, and the Lulus, where the whole Italian realm were formed the land of Rome the he was due to concur or rather lead (Wiswell 10)." This also show where the political and power took shape. As presented in the current world, the political power often makes people do anything and everything to acquire the same. Therefore, Aeneas reluctantly dropped the love he had with Dido but to go for political power in that he wanted to control the entire Rome. Finally, it is vital to note that the literature herein also depicts the difficulty in transitions. Aeneas’ journey was full of violence (Wiswell 13). Moreover, it is also difficult for many people to adjust and accept changes that often occur in institutions and societal lives. For instance, Dido did kill herself in an extensively violent manner in protest after learning that their love ended because Aeneas had to move into political power. This action is an indication of how not everyone’s thirst is usually quenched w3henever there is transformation or changes within an institution, political, and social sectors of life. Therefore, Virgil’s literature depicts vital experiences that often take place in the society.
