The writer has well described the outlook of the house. She was all alone living in her home when her father died about forty years ago. She only had a servant and a cook. The family of Emily was exempted from taxes in town. Her father was a well-known personality and she was also enjoying the subsidies given to her and her father.

When her father died after a few years she met a man Homer Baron. He was her lover, both had good relations. This was not acceptable to her relatives. Her relatives forbade her from meeting him. Mr. Homer Baron left her for a while. After a few days, he came back. He was last time seen entering Emily's home. After her father’s death, many in town were not happy with the privileges which were given to her, especially those of her age. But as she was the oldest and her home was the oldest so she was given due respect. Despite resistance from a few who wanted her to pay bills and pay taxes many others were in her favor. She was not allowed to meet many people and this made her a psychological problem. She was in depression.

After a few days, Emily went to the nearby medical shop and bought some sort of poison. The townspeople thought that Emily is so much depressed that she wants to kill herself but after a few days, she was found shopping for men’s clothing and other accessories. When the people saw they thought they both are getting married and she is buying stuff for Homer Baron. After a few days, there was a bad smell coming from Emily's home. A few men went to her home and asked about the bad smell Emily didn’t allow anyone to enter her home. The townspeople then complained to the mayor, and many pressurized Emily, and after the failure they found the solution that they sprayed and the smell faded after a few days.

This shows how Emily was a strict and isolated woman she never allowed anyone to come near her. After her death when the writer showed her home from inside, there was a room which had a small entrance for light. Emily died all alone in her home. The mysterious thing was that there was a dark room in that room on the bed men’s clothes and under which were only bones, on the pillow were a few gray hairs and a head. The story shows that Emily murdered the man and his dead body was her companion. This is the hysterical and physiological aspect of Miss Emily. All her life she was alone and in that depression, she killed a man. When her father was alive he never allowed any men to come into Emily’s life. This story is about loneliness mainly, memories, and suspicious events (Faulkner).
