Both teachers spend little time during the lesson to lecture the students but I find the approach used by the teacher in California better since the teacher provides the ideas for discussion unlike in the other classroom.

The second response while acknowledging the usefulness of the communicative approach it argues that it is not the most effective approach to teaching since the best approach could only be determined by the learner. Communicative language teaching utilizes the interaction between the learners to create a comfortable learning environment and to enhance teamwork among students with little instruction from the teacher. The response cites criticism and challenges that a tutor might face while utilizing the communicative approach to teaching such as not using native languages to ease learning in classrooms.
