Extract of sample "The Story of Metamorphic"

In his thought, Gregor remarkably recognized the fact that he simply was not happy with his chosen career. “What a strenuous career it is that I’ve chosen! Travelling day in and day out. Doing business like this takes much more effort than doing your own business at home, and on top of that there’s the curse of travelling, worries about making train connections, bad and irregular food, and contact with different people all the time so that you can never get to know anyone or become friendly with them. It can all go to Hell!” (Kafka 3).

The author remarkably presented a clear picture of what life has been for Gregor. Even though there is a sense of bizarre transformation from human to a bug from the start of the story, this tone simply supports the idea that the author would want to present the life of Gregor that is full of misery, a life that tries to grapple with the daily hardships, and a life that is searching for hope and more meaning.
