September 13, Story Response Number 2 Hi , The structure and style used in writing was deemed effective in captivating the interest of the reader. As narrated in the first person viewpoint, the author used elements of rhetorical appeal, especially pathos, to appeal to the emotions. The main theme that was deduced from the story evolved from the fact that the narrator detested playing baseball but had to concede to suit the preference of his father’s love for the game. Most of the sentiments disclosed included adjectives that described suffering in silence, dreaded waking up to play baseball, and feeling like being a prisoner looking for an exit.

The flow of narrative details had been predominantly smooth; yet, there are some areas requiring expounding. For instance, when the assertion that Mike could have been the instrumental person who could have changed his mind set about the game, no further details were provided. Personally, one would have wanted to find out the succeeding details on the manner of exit, as disclosed. In addition, the climax could be improved through the creation of a conflict or challenging event that provided the impetus for a turning point: the reason why suddenly, it would not matter whether Holmgren, the teammates, and even the narrator’s father would hate him for leaving baseball for good.

Overall, the story was narrated in the most interesting manner that created the intended impact to the reader. Good job.
