? People have become overly dependent on technology In this age many individuals have become highly dependent on modern technology. This has resulted to the individuals losing their basic skills on aspects such as critical and creative thinking, writing and grammar skills and also their communication skill. Most of them put out a strong argument that is not true. As we constantly depending on technology in performing our day to day tasks we tend not to apply our personal idea in the tasks that we embark on. Many agree that the computer and the mobile phone are one of the world greatest technologies that have ever been created. The main reason for the over dependency on technology in this current time and age may be attributed to various aspect that include, lifestyle, education, availability of the technology and the increase purchase ability of individuals. Through the day to day advancements of these technologies we have seen that their use has been embedded in to all our activities ( Haviland, William A. 2004). Many may highly disagree with the fact that technology has a negative impact on not only the individuals but also the environment and the world as a whole. Technology with no doubt is a key and important factor in the human life. It makes work easier saves on time and resources and most of all does things that in a few years were deemed impossible. The big question that should be posed to every one for the effective evaluation on the efficiency and sustainability of technology is that: is technology a good thing, to what extent should we depend on it, should we be skeptical of its benefits and uses? In this century we have witness the development of various technologies. These technologies are not necessarily new but a major upgrade of the existing technologies. Such technologies include the android gadgets, minicomputer such as tables, pocket size multimedia gadgets such as IPods, internet technologies such as cloud technologies and social networks and a large other sets of technologies available at any easy disposal to many individuals. This has greatly influenced life attributes such communication, travel, livelihood and lifestyle of individuals (Lovitt, William 1977). It has increased the incomes of individuals, accessibility of things and has saved time. In this current age the world is referred to as the global village as one can move from one place to another quickly communicate with individuals from any place in the world. With the global crises on the conservation of the environment, a development of clean technologies has risen. Development of technologies like highbred vehicles solar powered gadgets and recycling processes has aided in a large way in keeping the technological development eco-friendly. Thought this fact has not been applied to all technologies. Technologies such as nuclear power that are in the constant raise but are not very eco-friendly and are hazardous to the environment. Most of the current technologies have a major problem with the disposal mainly after the usage is complete. This leads to technological wastes that result to harmful material in the environment. In addition the constant development of technologies also contributes to the increase in technological waste. With the entry of a new technologies the current technologies tend to become absolute and hence turned in to waste. One of the fields that has been highly affected by technology and has turned into a dependency is the educational industry. The use of computers has raided the industry. This has positive and negative aspect depending on the user the, target group, age and education level. In the lower levels of education the use of technologies should be highly discouraged. This is because at this very age the individual in subject are at a stage that they need to nature their creative and critical thinking skills, there communication abilities and their reading and writing skills. With the use of computers at this age there is a high possibility that the growth of this abilities will be inhibited and result in to reduce child capabilities. This is caused by technologies like typing technologies and spelling and grammar correction software that will curtail the writing skills of children and hence the great dependency of technologies at this age should be highly discouraged. On the other hand individuals in the upper end of education such as post high school education such individuals are highly aided by the technologies. Technologies like E libraries, E-learning platforms and search engines have aided in the increased level of knowledge amongst the world populace. Another emerging issue on the technology aspect is the developments of a multitude of gadgets that have been develop. There is an increased interrelation of the gadgets created. This means that one need more than one gadget in order for a technology to work properly. Citing a good example of such a case is the personal computer. One need additional gadget to supplement it in order for it to work properly. One need the computer its self then, an internet gadgets, power back up gadgets and storage gadgets. This brings up the issue of multiplicity of gadgets and cost of the gadget goes up. These gadgets, on the other hand make the technology bulky. Various other attributes also arise in the dependency of technology they include: affordability of the gadgets. Some of the gadget that is prerequisite for the effective performance of the technologies are not readily available and are also expensive to acquire (Frank Popper 2007). This usually dents the pocket of the technology users affecting their lively hood in the long run. Another attribute that arises is the Rate of change in the technologies. There is a really high change in the technology hence the individuals in use of the technologies have to constantly changing the technologies hence making the use of technology hectic. On the other hand people have not become very dependent on technology this can be seen in many industries in the world today. A good example is the service industry that very little technology is used. They have stuck to offering a personalized package to the client very little technology is used hence a clear indication of lack of dependency on technology. Lack of dependency on technology can also be seen in the hospitals. Though technology has improved the way Medicare is administered to the patients. There is still need for a personalized and human aspect in the provision of Medicare hence there is little dependency on technology. In conclusion technology is usually developed to aid in making the lives of humans easy and comfortable but great care should be on the level of usage of this technologies. This will prevent over dependency on the technologies as it may cause more harm than good to the individual who are in use of the technologies. References Haviland, William A. (2004).
