How does 'Services Response Logistics' differ from 'Logistics? This paper discusses the difference between the services response logistics and logistics. I will concentrate on the question how does 'Services Response Logistics' differ from 'Logistics. My aim is to explore the main difference and find out how this concept will grow in the future. Logistics is the administration of running information, goods and lots of other assets, comprising people and energy, among the point of beginning and the point of utilization in order to convene the needs of customers (Hertz et al, 2003). Logistics engage the incorporation of transportation, warehousing, material-handling, and record, information, and packaging. Logistics is a control of the supply chain which includes the significance of time and place effectiveness (Hertz et al, 2003). On the other hand Service Response Logistics or SRL is the management and synchronization of the business’s service actions. As I have researched there are 4 main activities of service response logistics that are the: Service quality Waiting times Service capacity Distribution channels, and In the service response logistics the supply channels and demand management strategy are as well noteworthy; as services are able to not be inventoried and consumer demand have to be met. The aim of my research is to determine the how does 'Services Response Logistics' differ from 'Logistics? For this task I will discuss these two concepts from their operational point of view. I will try to determine the basic difference behind these two concepts. Next aim of this research is to find out, whether the SRL concept will grow in the future? Difference In this section I will explore main theme of my paper where I will investigate the main difference among the services response logistics and logistics. For doing this first we have know about the main concerns of both task. Primary Concerns of Logistics In this section I will discuss the primary concerns of the Logistics. Logistics and Logistics management is that division of the supply chain which devices, direct and puts into the practices the well-organized, effectual forward and overturn flow and storage of supplies, services and related information among the opening point and the place of utilization in order to set up consumers requirements (Bowersox, 2005). The Primary Concerns of SRL Now I will explain the concern of the services response logistics. Main concern of the SRL is management of the service capacity. Service capacity is the number of consumers for each day the company’s service system is intended to hand out (Hertz et al, 2003). When demand goes above to the capacity, company has to turn away consumers or employ personnel all these steps are taken to increase capacity of company. Managing service capacity comprises the capacity utilization. Capacity utilization used to level demand strategy, because the capacity turns out to be steady in spite of demand. When demand goes above than capacity, line up management strategy arrangement with surplus customers (Rogers et al, 1999). In the situation when demand is higher than capacity, at this time capacity management used for (Bowersox, 2005): Hiring part-Time Employees Utilizing consumers- those are hidden employees Making use of innovative technology Cross-Training & giving out employees Utilizing employee setting up strategies Utilizing demand management actions In the situation when available service capacity exceeds demand, Capacity Management is used for exercising demand management practices and discovering other uses for service capacity. SRL is used to manage Distribution Channels Logistics is only concerned to the forward and backward running and storage of supplies, services and associated information (Hertz et al, 2003). But SRL is used for the management of distribution channels engage customary methods and latest channels that slot in fresh internet technologies. SRL makes use of the below given techniques and methods for applying the distribution channel management. The first one is the Eatertainment that is mixture of restaurant & amusement elements. Second is the Entertailing that is retail places by means of entertainment elements. And final is Edutainment we can also say it the infotainment that unites knowledge with entertainment to appeal to consumers coming across for substance along with amusement (Bowersox, 2005). SRL also utilizes the managing distribution channels tool for the task of franchising that is for increasing rapidly in isolated geographic marketplaces, for protect accessible marketplaces and building the marketplace share and when vendors have inadequate economic resources (Hertz et al, 2003). In contrast Logistics are only concerned to the delivery of assets to the specific places. Logistics used to deliver goods and services at the international level but this international expansion is carried out by the SRL. SRL functions or associates with companies recognizable with the region’s marketplaces, suppliers, communications, administration regulations, & consumers. SRL also demand to address the elements like language and cultural obstacles. Internet has provided the superfluous strength to the Logistics. Now we have goods and services at any places and at any time in the world. Logistic structure has been changed through this technology (Bowersox, 2005). But the Logistic is only concerned to the management and supervision of the flow of information, services and goods. SRL carries out the internet giving out strategies (Kujawa et al, 2003). By the implementation of SRL techniques a lot of vendors nowadays sell goods exclusively over the internet, while others make use of it as a supplemental sharing channel. Logistics are not concerned to the quality components, while the utilization of SRL adds this feature to overall Logistics management process (Kujawa et al, 2003). Managing Service Quality is the main apprehension of the SRL. Where this technique aims to proffer customer contentment that relies on capability to convey what consumers want. Next SRL also incorporates the below given qualities in the Logistics management: Reliability is the way to consistently performing the service appropriately and constantly. Responsiveness is the speedily and reasonable service. Assurance is the implementation of the trust and self-assurance to consumers. Empathy and tangibles factors those are related to quality service management carried out by the SRL (Evers et al, 2000). As I have already discussed that Logistics has only concern to the delivery of the goods and services, the management of waiting times are handled by the SRL. SRL is used to establish the Queuing System Design that determines that how goods and services will be: Supplies either by particular server or by numerous servers that activate in chain or in corresponding (Kujawa et al, 2003). SRL implements the supposed waiting times management techniques that make certain the business to: Keep customers occupied with the organization Start and proffer the service rapidly Reduce customer anxiety Keep consumers up to date Group consumers jointly Map a reasonable waiting system Conclusion In this paper I have investigated the basic difference among the services response logistics and logistics. I have explained the main concerns and tasks of logistics and SRL’s and compared the response of each one against those activities. I have explored the basic theme of this research from the basic level. I have discussed the main concerns and responsibilities of each activity. Then I have streamlined the basic operational difference among these two concepts. There is lot more research still needed to completely cover this area. After exploring the details regarding SRL I have accessed that this concepts is purely concerned to the customer satisfaction and quality assurance. We are seeing the rapid growth in the world of business through internet and Ecommerce. This technology age demands the company to efficiently deliver goods and services to the target customer. In this situation Logistics management is incomplete without SRL support that ensures the better quality of services and effective management of the overall activities of the business. So as I have concluded that the SRL concept will gain more acceptance and popularity in future regarding the better management and implementation of the Logistics management process. Work Cited 1.
