?Differentiate between management and leadership.  Ever organization, regardless of its nature and working, has a pre defined set of structure which is common for all the organizations. This structure includes the tier of its working cadre, the top management, the middle management and the lower staff. Along with the cadre definition, the roles are being assigned in terms of team members, team leads, team helpers, supervisors, assistants, and many other ranks. Management: Management is the organizing of activities for the pursuit of accomplishing any task. These activities are a wide array of functions being performed in different shapes. The scope of management is quite broad and it curtails various activities, namely planning organizing, staffing controlling and leading. Individual members are being assigned for it who perform their duties according to the requirement (Kreitner, 2008). Comparison between Management and Leadership: While different units of management can be defined separately, the scope of management quite broader compared to the leadership. Leadership involves only the leading function, management involves various other functions which partly covers the leaders’ roles and responsibilities at the same time. The umbrella of management applies both the personnel involved and the activities undertaken. While personnel enable performing these activities, the resources are worked upon by the man power. Hence the spectrum of management is far wide and broader than the leadership, yet it does not undermine the importance of leader and leadership because without it no organization or project can run or survive. Example of a firm in general: Apple Inc is a prime example of successful organization in recent times. It has been brought to this level by its innovative and visionary leader Steve Jobs (Daft & Lane, 2008). It would not be wrong to say that he in modern times delivered and introduced the new forms of leadership that serve as symbol and best example for the modern day challenges and situations an organization is faced with. It is commonly being said that the leader should lead from the front. Be it practical work, be it ideas and innovation, or be it management and strategies. Steve job’s work and practices are commendable in almost all of the above mentioned disciplines of a organization and its projects. He led through his practical example of innovation. This served as motivation for the other members of the team to think out of the box and deliver something unique in their own capacity. The best contribution a leader can provide to any organization that he or she is associated with can be in form of leading and performing through practical actions. Besides the leadership, Apple Inc has a successful planning and management strategy in place. The roles are clearly defined. So are the objectives, and the tasks that are to be accomplished. Different sections in form of departments within the company work accordingly. It has the research and development unit, it has the marketing unit; it has the scientific exploration unit. In short it has all the components that are needed to make a successful brand. The company also involves a team of members who work on ideas which are new in nature and of help to the organization. In other words keeping a team which thinks ahead of other competitors and makes it to the customers earlier than the rest. Organizing: Organizing is the process of assortment of all the activities in the enterprise. It could be the organizing of the schedules, activities, units, previous reports, or even the items and elements that are being used in daily routine. Staffing: This is another important aspect of the management field. It involves inducting the right kind of man at the right place. It may also involve recruiting and screening the individuals and then determining who fulfils the requirements best. Control: Controlling is an essential component of any project and therefore is ranked in priority activities of the entire management process (Havinal & Veerabhadrappa, 2009). The scope of controlling is broader in its own sense as well. Controlling can be that of internal actions, the material and resources, the activities, the funds and resources hence all the elements involved in the organization both material and non material are liable to control. Leadership: Leadership is the process of taking command and responsibility for conducting a particular task. Leadership is a separate discipline in its own and has its own pre requisites that need to be met in the most appropriate manner. There are different types of leadership skills, while some may come in authoritative manner; others come in team work and incentives based. Whatever the mode being adopted, the important point is to bring the best out of the working unit and maximize the benefits for the organization. Leader is like the captain of the ship, his performance, his guidance and his control of the ship (organization) largely depends on the success or failure of the organization. Describe the roles and responsibilities that organizational managers and leaders play in creating and maintaining a healthy organizational culture.  Organizational managers and leaders are the pivot of any organization. They serve as the make or break point in any organization. Their efforts in a positive manner can take a firm to the heights of sky or can bring it down in other cases. Organizational managers play multiple roles. They are the bridge between the top tier team and the lower unit that is directly involved in the working processes. As the name of role would imply, manger task is to manage. While the scope of the word managing is quite broad, therefore their nature of work is variable and broad as well. Organizational environment is a constituent of various factors, the way in which activities are performed, the communications are conducted, the challenges are undertaken, the manner in which supervision is provided. In all this aspects the role of manager and leader is substantial and they can help making an endeavor a success through their proper and rightful guidance. The working environment in any organization depends on the manner in which the managers and leaders construct it. A Leader and manager are bound to know the rules that come along with being a manager and leader. Lapses on their behalf can result in failure. Important function of any manager and a leader is that of motivation and communication. Motivation serves as gold mine in any organizational environment. Motivation in any employee can bring the best out of him, rather the extra bit which might not be able to be extracted otherwise. Through motivation encouragement is sought and it enables self confidence in the individuals as a result over all benefit to the project and organization. If there is any other single element that holds any vital importance, it cannot be any greater than communication. Communication is the bridge and channel between different members and units of an organization. While there are large number of disciplines, departments, individuals involved in an organization, keeping them on one platform, keeping up the communication and passage of flow is of high importance. This all is possible through effective communication. Communication can be in many forms, it can be verbal, written, textual, and behavioral. Besides this, communication can be intra departmental or outside the organization. It can even be inside the department amongst group of people. Each form of communication has its own requirements yet all require in time delivery. Evaluate the affect of globalization and management across borders.  In modern times the concept of organizations, businesses, and enterprises has expanded many folds and is of global nature. While in past the organizations, the managers had little responsibilities, little to offer and little to perform, in modern times where everything is global and in fact the entire universe is a global village, the means and methods of globalization have totally changed. Conducting the managerial tasks across the border and on international level requires sheer professionalism. Without any discrimination, and biases policies and rules are defined that are in alignment with the guidelines and motives of the project. The affect of globalization on management is multi facet. It has made the entire process very fast, very demanding, at the same time multiple times productive and responsive. If the requirements are fulfilled in proper manner, dividends are many fold now because of large number of players and international environments involved in it. However this all is coined to the professional dealings in businesses and activities. There is only one rule now and that is professional operations, professional dealings, and professional performance. Only this would enable meeting the challenges brought up by the global nature of businesses. The global nature of businesses has brought about many challenges with itself as well many perks and privileges. If the rules are being followed properly, the returns are larger than were previously. If they are being compromised, the entire course is crashed and efforts so made go futile (International, 2011). Recommend at least two strategies that organizational managers and leaders can use to create and maintain a healthy organizational culture. Support your recommendations with the concepts discussed in class and in the text, as well as your personal experiences.  Healthy organization culture is of extreme essence to the successful working in the organization. For this purpose different strategies and methods can be adopted. Whatever strategy is adopted, it must be ensured that it is in conformance with the requirements and the best interest of the organization and the working unit inducted (Miles & Snow, 2003). The first step in the strategy should be motivation and open environment. The working team should have no fear of asking or daring to make a move which is not authorized. At times many moves as such lead to innovation and creativity. Inducting the element of creativity in the team members is also vital. It results in development of the habit of thinking out of the box and thinking to create something that is beneficial to the organization as well as the individuals themselves for their personal growth in professional field. Restricting them to the pre defined path disables their creativity. Other strategy that should be adopted includes transparent dealings, in form of ethical behavior and ethical considerations. Ethical obligation fulfillment should be made a must and inappropriate means should be highly discouraged. After all it’s not just the monetary purposes that an organization must serve, rather it is about human values, customer care and good practices. These are the basic rules which should be part of the organizational working strategy in order to put the organization on true footing of success and real professional working. Works Cited: Daft, R.
