Which Is the Most Appropriate Vendor for this Process - Assignment Example

From the stack testing that requires EPA to meet permit needs of permit to operate and permit to install, EPA was notified to have violated the requirements. EPA has therefore forwarded the violation notice to our firm. The implication is that EPA is not in compliance and is at risk of being fine. As they have to continue operating irrespective of the fines, the process is of as much importance to them. Our company, therefore, has to choose from three vendors the one that best matches our needs in accordance to speed, quality and flexibility. The question is which is the most appropriate vendor for this process?

In case an extra item arises a charge of 200 dollars per hour is levied with equipment if required.

Vendor2:

The company has operated since 1995. The personnel of this vendor on average has a working experience of 10 years. They have fewer employees than vendor 1, as they have 18 full-time employees. All the 18 employees are as qualified as the ones for vendor 1. Just like vendor 1 they are not very quick in responding to projects. Unlike vendor 1, it is highly flexible but offer moderate-quality service. It also has some of its equipment maintained on the site. Upon contract agreement, they start work after 4 weeks which is quicker compared to vendor 1. Vendor 2 offers a breakdown in its pricing and identifies what can be done in-house. It can also customize and write training programs using the company’s material.  In case an extra item arises a charge of 180 dollars per hour is levied with equipment if required which is less than vendor 1’s offer.

Vendor 3;

The company has existed since 2000. It’s a new firm but their personnel has an average of 5 years experience. It has 10 employees who are highly qualified compared to vendor 1 and vendor 2. They respond very fast to projects and are moderately flexible. The company offers acceptable quality but is not outstanding. They respond a week after an agreement is reached. They can work into the night to complete the project. In case an extra item arises a charge of 150 dollars per hour is levied with equipment if required. The company prefers to rent equipment.

In conclusion, I opt for vendor three has it has two qualities that our company needs currently. Due to induce fines to EPA, time is of essence and vendor offer the shortest response in time. Another factor is the added costs attached that vendor 3 turns out to be moderately affordable. They also do not charge for extra hours on the night shift. Moreover, vendor 3 has been referred to as satisfying in previous projects. In this project, flexibility is not of much concern. Vendor 2 could have been the best but they are not quick in responding to urgency.
