More than one author has worked on this book and has many crucial points which are applicable to funding in health and aged care sector. As per ( CDC,2004) “People use health care services for many reasons: to cure illnesses and health conditions, to mend breaks and tears, to prevent or delay future health care problems, to reduce pain and increase quality of life, and sometimes merely to obtain information about their health status and prognosis”.
The authors seem to professors as the chapters were compiled by the division of learning and teaching service of Australia. The chapter was compiled some decades back but was revised lately. So the information can be slightly outdated. However, the University is renowned one in Australia so the information provided can be credible. The chapter has a sensible and compact introduction and gives an insight on health sector and their complexity. The introduction looks at the management process of health care sector and their use of GDP which is scientific. It is interesting to understand how well the
chapter has integrated health care management with their finance planning and reporting. The writing gets technical here by laying down many ratios and this gives readers various dimension on planning and financial control within an organization. The author is looking at Australia and how the countries health care system works. This gives much information to the reader on the financial accounting and the way in which health sector function in regard to it. According to (Vasicek, 2010, pg.37-58) “As prominent rise of the costs in the healthcare sector evoked a need to find ways to produce services more effectively and at lower costs, an array of literature on pricing and cost control, and accounting in general, in the public health care sector emerged”More over the book provides financial analysis of two chartered accountants to give a clearer picture of the business performance.
