Microsoft Office Excel 2007 software was used to compute the frequency, percentage, and mode values. The research survey result was analyzed together with the literature review.

Research Findings: The findings suggested that the implementation of CSR initiatives does not always increase IHG’s employees’ job satisfaction.

Conclusion:  Although the implementation of CSR initiatives can increase the work motivation and overall work satisfaction of some employees, the use of CSR strategy alone is not effective in terms of making all employees satisfied at work. In fact, some employees may find the CSR implementation as an added job and responsibility on their part.

Recommendations:  (1) Consider combining the use of both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards throughout the implementation of their Green Engage program;

                                 (2) Consider the importance of using effective leadership style to increase employee engagement in Holiday Inn’s Green Engage program;  and

                                 (3) Carefully listen to employees’ ideas and other concerns, demonstrate to them the main objectives of the company’s CSR strategies, and encourage the CEO to be friendly and easily approached by the rest of the employees to win the trust and support of a diverse group of employees.

Founded back in 2004, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) PLC is considered one of the leading hotel companies around the world. Today, IHG owns and manages a total of nine (9) hotel brands including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites, EVEN Hotels, and HUALUXE Hotels and Resorts (Market Watch, 2012). Offering more than 661,000 rooms in more than 4,500 hotels throughout 100 different countries and territories around the world, IHG is serving more than 153 million guests each year (IHG, 2012).

            The figures presented above strongly suggest that a very high rate of employee turnover is very costly on the part of the company.
