Principles of Management Practice Portfolio MMU Cheshire Nasser al-hamammi Table of Content Introduction 3 Knowledge & Use of Material 4 Applicationof Knowledge 7 Selection, Organization and interpretation of Material 11 Evaluation of Material 13 Conclusion 15 References 17 Bibliography 22 Introduction Management is a term that helps in defining the process that enhances the ability of an organization to manage its workforce and perform effectively (Matthews, 2009). Strategic planning is directly related to developing different processes of management. Managerial functions also include recording and storing of information that acts as a future source for developing different plans. This involves effective planning procedures of different resources based on which the ability of an organizational performance is enhanced. The management functions are classified broadly under four categories that include planning, organizing, leading and managing. From traditional times, management helped in developing different process of control that would enhance in formulating as well as implementing management strategies. The principle purpose of maintaining managerial function is to develop a better understanding of the different approaches of management to formulate a strategic plan to manage business operations in a coordinated manner. In the diversified environment like the present day business scenario, dynamic planning is most efficient (Evans & Lindsay, 2012). In this context, management of organizations is observed to be effectively managing different management strategies, so that they are able to develop their organizational base and enhance the efficiency of the same. Different theorists have elaborated on the different approaches of management to develop organizational abilities to perform is a sustainable manner. These approaches of management are observed to be having a huge impact on the performances of a business. Effective management of strategies helps in enhancing the productivity of an organization in order to improve the sustainability as well as profitability of an organization (Gibbins-Klein, 2001). In this regard, the assignment elaborates on the different approaches of the management that would enhance the ability of the students to perform better. The implication of the different strategies has been observed to be a part of management that influences personal development and leadership abilities of the managers. Knowledge & Use of Material Rodrigues (2001) stated that the use of principles of management has deviated largely from its initial position owing to the changing needs in the developmental procedure of an organization. It has been noted that the principles of management have been changing according to the changing needs of the market environment. It has been identified that even though the theoretical approaches of management have changed largely, the practical implication of the same has changed with the changing need of the workplace. Rasula (2012) commented on the different processes for enhancing the ability of the management to transform individual knowledge into organizational knowledge. According to Malhotra (2000), knowledge management systems are constrained by the continuous and rapid changes of the business environment. Knowledge management has become one of the most important sources that enhance the ability of the management to perform in an efficient way for accomplishing organizational objectives successfully. By reducing the cost of business operation, knowledge management resources help in developing an effective organizational structure. Similarly, to develop a better understanding towards subjects relating to management of knowledge has been the prime needs for the students. Accordingly, I have developed my personal abilities to maintain a continuous synthesis of knowledge and develop a better understanding of the different changing scenarios of the workplace. Furthermore, to develop a competitive advantage in the present workplace will require the development of a need of continuous learning and knowledge management. In this respect, knowledge management facilitated in having a better understanding about management principles based on which activities can be managed effectively. Moreover, Ajiferuke (2003) noted that with explicit knowledge, managers could manage their business sectors in an effective manner. Similarly, I have been developing my effective management abilities to enhance my skills. The review of the different texts and literary evidences has supported my cognitive development. The different role based activities that are involved with the development of the different attitudes within an individual in order to enhance management abilities to perform. In this regard, the review of management journal has assisted me in obtaining adequate knowledge as well as understanding regarding various management principles and concepts, which in turn has aided in developing my management abilities. King (2009) stated that management of knowledge is observed to be having a huge impact on the development of businesses. Knowledge management helps in enhancing the different approaches related to managerial processes and develops better practices in the education system. The managerial curriculum provides with the different supportive education that enhances the ability of the individuals to develop their cognitive skills and enhance the ability to meet with the changing needs of the workplace. The training sessions offered helps in developing the approaches of the individuals, which has in turn enhanced my credibility to perform as well as developed my aptitude to meet with the changing needs of the work environment. This process further involves the management of the different processes that are involved with the development of the concepts of management. The development of knowledge culture will ensure in steady growth and development of a continuous process of development of my personal skills (Gibbins-Klein, 2001). According to McAleese & Hargie (2004), overflow of information has been effectively influencing management strategies that are likely to enhance abilities of the managers to perform as well as enhance their planning functions. The proper assessment of the different attributes would enhance my ability to perform and build up my cognitive skills to meet with the different needs of the changing workplace. The present scenario has been changing to a large extent due to factors that include globalization and technological advancement. The changes in business and market scenario have also changed management practices. In this regard, management practices are recognized to be managed with the assistance of knowledge management. It is further observed that management processes are having a huge impact on my development of different strategies for synthesizing knowledge and enhancing my management abilities to perform better. According to Reddy & et. al. (2009), decision making strategies are observed to largely dependent on knowledge management strategies. The development of knowledge culture within the students will further help in developing the educational system. This development within the educational system would improve preparedness among the students and enhance their ability to meet with the changing needs of a society (Nowduri, n.d.). Giannantonio & Hurley-Hanson (2011) commented that the dynamic business environment could only be managed through effective management of the knowledge culture. Management of the information system helps in developing management attributes for managing activities effectively. I will be effectively managing the knowledge culture and developing the information system, so that the attributes could be developed for meeting the changing environment effectively (Hatch, 2011). Knowledge management helps in enhancing my leadership skills and develops my approach of leadership, which enhances my ability to manage different requirements for improving the process of sharing and using information effectively (King, 2009). The assessment of information within an organization enhances synthesis of data, develops a proper culture for better employee satisfaction and developing a better management of the information system. Similarly, the management of available resources is likely to be developed on the basis of different criteria. In this regard, knowledge management has been an important consideration for me to enhance my ability to perform management functions competently. In order to develop my abilities to meet with the changing needs of a society, I have been developing my learning skills and knowledge base to enhance my ability to perform. I have been nurturing continuous management of knowledge to develop different aptitude to manage the changing needs of the workplace (McAleese & Hargie, 2005; Martinez, 2001). Information based development has also aided me in developing my skills in the field of personal management. It further enhances my management capabilities relating to team building and leadership skills (McLean, 2009). I have been developing team-based approaches to enhance my credibility to perform. For instance, I have been developing my individual abilities and have been managing the different attributes to implement group knowledge and develop the different qualities to meet with the changing needs of the workplace. Leadership helps in developing effective managerial abilities for performing operations in a planned, organised, scheduled and controlled manner (McLean, 2009). Application of Knowledge For every individual, knowledge is an important element. Through management studies, every individual has to acquire ample knowledge for ensuring that operations are performed on the basis of certain requirements. Therefore, every management student has to possess knowledge about planning, organising, scheduling and controlling. In this regard, this knowledge has helped me in personal as well as professional life. With proper use of management knowledge, I can properly plan, organize, control and schedule any kind of personal and professional activities. Planning of different subjects and studies has enhanced my ability to apply my knowledge base and develop my cognitive skills to meet with the dynamic environment. With the help of planning, I have focused on a particular area, unit and activity or function that I have planned to enhance in order to develop my ability to meet with the needs of the workplace. The planning process normally includes some of objective setting such as time scale and degree of specific area of planning. With the help of specific knowledge, I can develop flexible and improved strategic plans. During planning phase, various planners have to adopt varied concept such as environment scanning and benchmarking for formulating plans that are more useful and effective in strategic ways. For instance, I have taken up effective environment scanning of different work environment that are prevalent in the present day and develop my cognitive skills to cope up with such changes. Moreover, environment scanning helps me to know the impact of present day management practices. On the other hand, benchmarking process helped me to improve planning process in an effective manner. At the end of planning process, I have learnt about other steps like organizing, scheduling and controlling. These three functions are complex job to do for me. With the help of proper organizing, scheduling and controlling, a product can meet its organizations need. Likewise, through proper controlling, organizing and scheduling, I can better monitor different practices that are performed in management operations. For instance, whenever a student is provided with a written assignment. With the help of proper planning, organizing, scheduling and controlling, a student can easily handle the pressure of that assignment and submit it on deadline. Proper planning and time management has made me to efficiently handle the different plans and develop strategies to cope up with the needs of the specific domain (Beck, 2004). On the other side, with the help of proper motivation, a student can enhance his/her leadership quality and improves performance level of subordinates as well as peer group. To be a successful planner, every individual have to possess decision-making quality. As per the Aristotelian view, correct knowledge about situations, purposes, objectives and resources and perceptions increases the ability of an individual to make an effective decision. In the present domain, decision-making has been an effective tool for the management of different organisational operation. Hence, the adoption of this perspective has increased my ability to take effective decision and develop my skills (Beck, 2004). The below diagram depicts decision-making process of Aristotelian. Aristotelian View of Good Decision-Making Source: (Beck, 2004) The self-leadership quality has established a motivational level that influences to achieve current goals. Motivation helps students to have highest marks in examinations. Positive motivation generates a strong win attitude among students’ performance. High range of performance creates a positive attitude within an individual. Through this attitude, students can apply their knowledge in a correct manner (Logan & et. al., 2012). Decision-making abilities have assisted in making decision in a systematic manner. This would enhance my ability to perform and further develop my efficiency to enhance my credibility to develop my individual skills. In management theories, motivation has been an important consideration for proper execution of different functions. To form a strong leadership quality among individual, motivation is the only function, which make management decision more emphasized .towards a certain desired task. On the other side, decade after decade, leadership quality has been identified to be enhanced through proper motivation. In this respect, motivation is identified important for encouraging students to perform their activities effectively. Through positive motivation, I can improve productivity and contribution for better personal and professional growth (Northouse, 2012). The development of my cognitive skills is going to enhance my credibility to perform and provide professional growth. Thus, proper application of knowledge aids in increasing productivity among students. The same is reflected through the development I have achieved during my curriculum and through the development of my academic results. The dimension of management study is very huge. Every management theory provides different kind of framework to improve growth in educational and organisational level. Management studies help an individual to improve leadership quality and motivation. In the professional life, application of management knowledge helps a student to sustain in the present competitive corporate society. With the function of motivation, a leader can motivate and encourage peer group to improve performance level in terms of educational and professional life (Wigfield & Eccles, 2004). This can be effectively identified through the development a manager can initiate among its sub workers. Selection, Organization and interpretation of Material The different approaches of the management have a huge influence in the personal performances of the employees. By implementing the different functions of management within my personal development criterion, I have developed the ability to manage the different operational functions to enhance my ability to perform (Avery & Bergsteine, 2011). Furthermore, by effective management of different materials available and proper planning of my learning, I have effectively developing my abilities to perform better. Moreover, the different approaches of organizing that were prevalent in the management strategies have been helping me to develop my cognitive skill. By controlling, the different flow of information and development of a proper understanding to select the correct information and assess the same has enhanced my personal abilities to perform efficiently. Proper organization of the available resources and assessing them as per my requirement have been developing my confidence and enhancing my knowledge base (Ajiferuke, 2003). Correspondingly, to develop my personal skills, I have been effectively planning my different requirements and developing my personal ability to perform efficiently. I have been undergoing different trainings that have been developing my personal skills to meet with the requirements of the present day organisation. This strategic management of the available resources has enhanced my credibility to perform and develop my efficiency to perform better (Analoui & et. al., 2013). This strategic development of my personal management abilities is likely to help me manage the different aspects of life and deliver quality outcome from limited resources. Furthermore, self-motivational abilities that I have developing and enhancing my ability to develop a better understanding of the motivational needs of the people (Elsalanty, 2011). This would further help me in developing a proper motivational factor and enhance my credibility in the long run. During curriculum management, I have been developing different goal setting abilities, and set personal goals and accordingly, achieved them. This has enhanced my confidence and a parallel development of motivation to maintain continuous growth and development (Greenall, 2004). Self-evaluation and reassessment of the goals have enhanced my personal ability to maintain continuous development. The assessment of my personal goals has assisted in efficiently handling the different situations and has kept me aligned with the different objectives of my life. This has further enhanced my leadership abilities and developed my cognitive skills to perform better (Gibbins-Klein, 2011). The continuous attainment of goals has enhanced my self-relevance and further developed my ability to perform. With effective modification and redefining my abilities, I have been managing the different strategic developments to improve and revise my practices (Giannantonio & Hurley-Hanson, 2011). The recapitulation of my calibration to perform, I have been effectively developing my individual skills to assess different absurd situations and analyse the same. This has enhanced my credibility to perform and developed my abilities to channelize knowledge into practice (Hatch, 2011). Synthesis of my personal learning abilities and development of my skills has enhanced my credibility to perform better. The different approaches that have been integrated by me during my course of learning have in turn enhanced my ability to reflect and interpret with clear responses. This phenomenon has further enhanced my credibility to assess a particular situation and develop the different strategies to synthesize knowledge into effective learning (Hollitus & Malaska, 2004). Through effective development of different strategies, I have been successfully selecting the materials that would enhance my knowledge base and help in developing my abilities to perform (King, 2009). The strategic management of my works has enhanced my credibility to perform that has acted as a positive motivation for my peers to develop their knowledge base and enhance their ability to perform. Moreover, at certain instances, I have helped my peers to develop their individual abilities to assess the different materials that have in turn enhanced their credibility to perform better (Malhotra, 2000). Furthermore, through the extended helps to my peers, I have developed my personal abilities of team management. This has enhanced my abilities to manage different team skills and develop my individual ability to perform as a leader. The different motivational factors that have enhanced the ability of my peers have in turn enhanced my personal ability to perform better (McLean, 2009). Evaluation of Material Proper evaluation of the material is the foremost requirement of the present day learning. The availability of enormous sources and the overflow of information are likely to make the vision blurred (McAleese & Hargie, 2005). The different motivational elements that act as a huge influence for the development of the students are likely to lead them into misconception of the different materials to be selected and synthesized. This further develops the needs of the management theories that would enhance the ability to perform better. This requires proper evaluation of different materials similar to the selection of correct resources that would likely to develop maximum utility (Martinez, 2001). The management of the available resources are likely to effect the development of a dilemma about the different evaluation criterion. In order to enhance the synthesis and evaluation of the correct data, the development of correct interpretation of personal attributes needed to be developed (Mele, 2006). This would further enhance the different effectiveness of the students to perform better with a parallel development of their cognitive skills. Effective management of different available resources has further enhanced my abilities to perform and develop my personal attributes. On a positive note, the different evaluation that I have undertaken during my curriculum has enhanced my skills to effectively manage different situations and enhance my decision making abilities (Nowduri, n.d.). This has further developed my self-confidence and enhanced my credibility to perform better. With further development of my abilities to choose among the best management practices, I have successfully developed my inert visionary to develop the different cognitive abilities and aim higher in life (Omar, 2006). Effective utilization of the resources and the correct synthesis of the different resources have enhanced my ability to perform effectively and develop my individual skills and managerial abilities (Rodrigues, 2001). Furthermore, I have developed my different abilities to enhance my long-term skills and develop my performance effectively. By reframing my skills, I have continuously monitored my different strategic skills and develop the different abilities to perform better (Rausch, 2006). The development of the visionary decision making ability has facilitated me to set long-term goals and achieve the same. This has enhanced my ability to plan properly from the available resources and develop my performance. By setting up my own personal goals and achievements, I have been able to reassess the same and plan accordingly (Rasula & et. al., 2012). By coordinating with the available goals and develop a better understanding of the different requirements. Development of the personal attitudes and enhancement of the different abilities has integrated the leadership skills and developed my cognitive skills of management (Reddy & et. al., 2009). By developing study groups, I have effectively developed my team building abilities and in managing the same. This has further enhanced my credibility to perform and develop my personal abilities to assess different people (Robbins & et. al., 2010). Strategic development of different abilities of the people helps in managing their credibility and enhances their abilities to perform better. The alignment of the individual goals helps in developing different strategies by further enhancing the fulfilment of the long-term goals (Vermeulen & Curșeu, 2010). The different abilities help in developing strong team to manage different absurd situations with better effectiveness. This development of the team building abilities helps in enhancing the different abilities of an individual to persuade, negotiate and develop greater integration of participative management (Rasula & et. al., 2012). This development has further enhanced the abilities of an individual to develop their managerial abilities and develop effective skills that would enhance their abilities to perform. By developing my team building abilities without persuading or luring different individuals has in turn enhanced different cognitive skills for effective management. This has further developed my attributes and enhanced my individual abilities to perform better (Robbins & et. al., 2010). Conclusion Different criterion is observed to be having a huge impact on the development of people, which further enhances their credibility to perform better. Managing different personal attributes help in enhancing different strategies and develop appropriate attitudes of management. This is further noted that the different strategies are observed to be having a huge impact on the development of the same. Moreover, it has been observed that different leadership traits among the managers developed from their individual management activities in their personal life have also assisted towards the development of their abilities to assess their skills. In this respect, by the assessment of the different strategies, the credibility of the management could be effectively understood in the initial years. Being a student, managing different resources and enhancing the abilities during the initial years are likely to integrate personal development with improved ability to perform. The development of the abilities to reflect and enhancing the credibility to perform, I have effectively developed my managerial abilities during their initial years of life. This further enhances the managerial abilities to perform and develop my individual abilities to make proper decision. This is likely to develop my abilities to make effective decision and develop my cognitive ability to perform. The different alignment of individuals’ abilities to perform has further enhanced the credibility of students to develop their cognitive skills. In this regard, further enhancement of the leadership abilities through effective management of different attributes is likely to develop their competencies for building their competency level. Furthermore, by developing their personal attributes, the students are likely to overcome their dilemmas of management. Effective development of the decision-making abilities will develop their individual performance and further catalyst their growth in the future. By developing their cognitive abilities, the students will be able to develop their reflective index and enhance their ability to manage organizations in an effective manner. References Avery, G.
