Leading Change Change in any organization or entity is inevitable. In fact, the only thing that is constant in teammanagement and leadership is change. It is the responsibility of any future-oriented leader to ensure that the change in the organization is well managed (Kotter). This implies that the manager should be prepared to handle change and all the challenges that are associated with the transformation and change. As a leader in a change program, I find myself in some difficult and troubling situations.

These are in relation to my strengths and weaknesses as a change leader. As part of my strengths, I find myself focused towards the ultimate goal of the change process. Having the future in mind from the start, and relating this to my ability to influence others in making decisions and having a positive attitude towards change makes my change leading a success. My influence on others has made me capable of initiating, maintaining and sustaining the change process. This is an important strength that coupled with proper change teamwork helps in making change a success.

However, I have always found it difficult to deal effectively with change resistance. In most instances, I face a challenge in making people believe that the norm is not satisfactory and that a new scheme or program is essential. With such a problem, it becomes difficult to make change a success unless enough time and resources are invested into the change process to influence acceptance. At one time, I was forced to use more than the allocated budget in a change process.Change is not always about making decisions to move away from the norm.

Leading change requires that the leader be a team player and capable of making positive influence with the team and leading the change towards the desired goal.Works CitedKotter, John P. Leading Change. Boston: Harvard Business School Press, 1996. Accessed on December 13, 2014. Web.
