The Federation will comprise a team of people with divergent backgrounds to pool knowledge. It will fall under the sports docket of government ministries. It will be a non-profit organization that seeks to popularize space sports because of the perceived benefits of the same. In that connection, it will have a vibrant marketing team to recruit followers and a finance department to track expenditures and other financial implications. Finally, there will be a technical team to advise on the realities of playing basketball in outer space. Functions of the FederationDesign the rules for the outer space basketball game In outer space, there is little gravity (Asimov, 2006).

As such, the rules that apply to basketball on Earth cannot apply to Mars. For example, since there is no gravity on Mars, one of the rules will be that the basketball passes through the ring from below and not from above. There also needs to be a rule on the standard basketball court applicable in outer space (Labossière et al., n.d). Most likely, it should be an enclosed structure with a ceiling to decelerate and stop the ball when it goes up. There could also be more points for an opponent who rescues a team member stuck on the ceiling because they jumped too high.

Arbitration in the event of conflicts arising from outer space basketball will be directed to this body. Inevitably, human interactions are known to be incubators of discord. Any emerging differences will be reconciled in a hearing presided over by the Federation. Organize tournaments. The Federation will also be tasked with the responsibility of generating a calendar of activities throughout the year. Various tournaments will be organized, planned, and executed during the year. Strict adherence to the annual events will fully integrate the sport into society and create its indispensability.

Reasons for formation Entertainment for researchers and scientists It is very unfortunate that there is very little that happens in outer space in the form of entertainment. Entertainment is necessary to rejuvenate the spirit after a hard day. It could even be a disincentive for more scientists to explore the universe. The Federation will seek to add glamor to space visits. Increase space tourism The goal of tourism is poised to be a long-term economic breakthrough for interested countries. As things stand, ordinary people do not exactly have a locus standi to undertake a space trip.

The introduction of space sporting will make it clear that not only scientists have the monopoly of going to space (Ladkin, n.d). The challenge to other sports organizations It is possible that the successful operations of the Federation will open Pandora's box to transfer all sports to space, thus, spurring a revolution. Subsequently, space will be flooded with sporting activities, and human exploits in the universe will be accelerated.
