Extract of sample "Entrepreneur Report: Nike Company"

Mark Parker Mark Parker Mark Parker has been the CEO of Nike Company since 2006. Parker entered the company in 1979 as a designer of footwear in New Hampshire. Parker became the Vice President of the division in charge of expansion in 1987 (Carr, 2013). In 1989, he became a corporate Vice President, and in 1993, he became a general manager. He is committed to ensuring that Nike continues to be environmentally conscious. Mr. Mark has 27 years of a broad Nike experience (Carr, 2013). After many years of working in various roles including product designer and developer, Mr.

Parker positively operates the Companys multi-billion dollars footwear and apparel dealings. Additionally, he helps in leading the continued development of the Nike brand. Parker as the CEO is responsible for the establishment of NIKE Company’s global business portfolio, and he is also a designer and a Nikesavior. Nike produces a variety of sports equipment, whereby running shoes became their first products (Carr, 2013). They presently make shoes, shorts, jerseys, base layers, and cleats for different sports.

Nike sells a collection of products which include shoes and attire for sports activities such as association football, running, basketball, tennis, combat sports, athletics, golf, American football, and cross exercise for women, and children men (Carr, 2013). Besides, Nike also trades in shoes for outdoor events such as golf, tennis, and skateboarding. Parker has an aspiring plan to carry Nike’s manufacturing near home by reducing the quantity of products made abroad. The company plans to use a Fly knit, a trademarked Nike technology (Parker, & Shaffer, 2014).

It can apply a single reel of thread to make a shoe, thereby reducing the number of workers that provide labor. He began humbly at the Nike Company as a designer. As CEO, Mark Parker has coordinated a number of Nike’s biggest steps, including category offense strategy. Just like any other company, Nike has experienced various challenges including environmental issues, labor and management issues. However, under the able-leadership of Mr. Mark Parker as the CEO, the company has emerged on top of these challenges (Parker, & Shaffer, 2014).

The company laid down various strategies that ensure that the company complies with environmental policies that aim to protect the life of the people. Mr. Park with his over 27 years, experience in Nike, has managed to run the company business thereby introducing new designs of shoes or footwear. Parker highly embraces technology that he claims has been his primary driving factor in becoming the world best sports apparels. Recently, the company rationalized its FuelBand detachment, right in the middle of the role in fitness trackers, and wearable tech (Parker, & Shaffer, 2014).

Parker did not view it in a criticizing manner, which would show that it was a mistake; rather he applauded the move. He believes that Nike’s innovation program goes beyond product because it touches everything the company does. In addition, as the world technology grows, Nike Company is not left behind. The CEO has focused on moving at equal pace with advances in technology so as to meet the needs of customers (Parker, & Shaffer, 2014). Parker has also remained determined in ensuring that the company makes a profit and at the same time produce quality products.

This has seen the company growth in terms of revenue and profitability. What I admire about Parker is the way he has achieved his success. He joined the company as a shoe designer and developer. Through his several years of experience and determination, he is now the president and CEO of Nike. Mark Parker has a role of overseeing the creative development of the product from myriad angles. He has shown that he is an effective manager and a leader with a vision. This also shows that one does not have start at a higher rank so as to be successful.

An individual can start with the lowest position and depending on their devotion to work so as to satisfy their self and the employer, they can attain the topmost role in that company.
