In this book, the author has depicted the importance of analysing organisations with respect to theory, practice and revitalisation. The development of technology and modernisations has led towards various critical situations with respect to social and cultural aspects for organisations to conduct their business operations in an efficient manner. In this respect, management of organisations should emphasize on social as well as community development with the objective of coping up with the growth of modernisation. Organisations are required to adopt certain theories as well as practices with the motive of revitalising the crisis situations effectively (Casey, 2002). The changes in technology, political and economic conditions are determined to be the factors which are responsible for the transformation of organisations. The author also describes that the organisation theory has faced intense problems as the concept of modernisation has been adopted by certain organisations while others disagree with the modernisations aspects with regard to the development of communities. This book critically analyses the structure and the operations of the modern organisations. In this book, practices, structures as well as behaviours of people of organisations are studied with respect to modernisations. An analysis is performed in this book with the intention of recognising issues in relation to technological and cultural changes for better future performance of organisations. The paper intends to discuss the insight of the book which will describe the various aspects of modern organisations. The insights of the book will be analysed in order to determine the appropriateness of the factors which are described in the book. Moreover, the strengths and the weaknesses of the factors represented in the book will be studied in relation to modern organisations. Insights to the Book The author of this book describes the different changes which have occurred due to modernisation and in accordance with which organisations are required to adopt different strategies and policies in order to cope up with these transformations. In this regard, analysis of organisations has become a hectic task for the management of organisations. The first chapter of the book is ‘Organisation Analysis Now’ which implies that analysis of modern organisations is carried out with the intention of determining the general principles as well as strategies which are adopted by organisations to operate effectively in the modernised era (Casey, 2002). In the first chapter,either past and present organisational theories and practices are scrutinised with the motive of determining rationalised future for organisations. The second chapter ‘The Modern Heritage: Philosophy and Sociology’ discusses the sociological as well as organisational theories practiced in the past which reflect the importance of rationalisation and universality progress. This chapter illustrates the fact that on the basis of analysis of sociological as well as social theories, the management of organisations should devise innovative practices and strategies for better performance in future. Social analysis will also reveal the practices to be adopted for better social development inside as well as outside organisations. The third chapter ‘Classical Traditions of Organisational Analysis’ implies the examination of organisations in relation to sociological theories and management science. This section of the book reflects the fact that political and social conditions should be administered by the management of organisations. Organisations are required to be managed as well as administered through managerial support and advanced technologies with the objective of conducting business operations efficiently. The fourth chapter ‘Counter-Movement: Criticism, Crisis, Dispersion’ implies that there is a revolution of counter-management in a critical manner with respect to the rise in the development of technologies and modernisation of social factors. This chapter denotes that the dramatic transformations of social, intellectual and political factors have raised many issues or crisis situations for modern organisations to cope in the competitive worldwide market segments. The fifth chapter ‘Postmodernism and Organisational Analysis’ clarifies that with the development of technologies and modernisation of society, organisations are required to formulate and implement new policies and practices in relation to social development. These facts will enable organisations in operating their business operations ethically. The sixth chapter ‘After Postmodernism’ signifies that with the immense changes or developments in technologies, markets, financial and production aspects among others, organisations are required to formulate as well as implement strategies for better performance in different market segments. The improved policies will also assist organisations to build better relationship with employees and with communities. The last chapter ‘Revitalisation’ interpreted or analysed the different changes and developments in order to procure better polices and strategies for revitalising organisations as well as society (Casey, 2002). In the modern day business context, huge transformations are recognised with respect to political, social and technological factors in organisations. In this regard, organisations are required to make changes in the principles and the policies in order to cope with these transformations. The chapters in this book depicts the facts that theorist and management of organisations have faced many challenges in devising appropriate strategies for performing business operations efficiently in competitive market segments. The main aspect of the book is to determine organisational studies in an aligned manner with the changes of the social world in the management practices. These are the various facts which are recognised and realised in this book. Rationale Globalisation, advancement of technologies, and changes in the social and political factors are considered to be the reasons for modernisation. Postmodernism has been observed to shift the cultural and intellectual aspects worldwide. Post modernisation has an effect on the theory of organisations or organisation theory. In this respect, organisations have adopted policies and strategies in order to adhere to the transformations which have taken place with regard to social, cultural, political and technological changes. The organisational study will assist in understanding the different aspects of human life, political as well as social concerns. Moreover, the book reveals the importance of management in organisations. Management of organisations are entitled with the task of applying the organisational theories with the intention of improving the operations of businesses. In the recent day business context with competitive and frequently changing business environment, organisations are required to adopt change management with the objective of conducting business operations efficiently. Aspects which include globalisation, development of technologies, deregulation, demographic and social changes are the main concerns for management of organisations. In this respect, the management of organisation are required to take effective initiatives for adapting changes proficiently (Todnem, 2005). The book ‘Critical Analysis of Organizations: Theory, Practice, Revitalization’ signifies the changes which have occurred due to the concept of globalisation and advancement of technologies. Moreover, changes have also been demonstrated in the political and social conditions. In this respect, organisations are required to formulate strategies and policies for better development of employees and communities in this modernised era with advanced technologies. The advantages of the development of technologies and globalisation have not been signified in this book. These are certain weaknesses which are identified in this book. It can be comprehended that the strengths which are identified in this book are perceived to outdo the weaknesses especially within the analysis of organisations in relation to past and present day context. Additionally, the book signifies important understanding of the various transformations or changes which are recognised due to modernisation. Conclusion The book ‘Critical Analysis of Organizations: Theory, Practice, Revitalization’ by Casey depicts that organisations are required to be analysed with the intention of determining the effect of changes or transformations on organisations on the modern day context. Modernisations have been observed due to technological, political, social and cultural changes inside and outside organisations. The author of this book has also depicted that social factor is an important consideration of organisation theory. The management of organisations should acquire the knowledge of organisation theory with the motive of performing business operations in a competitive manner. The chapters of this book signify the different approaches or theories discussed in relation to modernisations. These chapters are structured in an appropriate manner as they begin with the discussion of organisation theory which are used by organisations and are provided by various theorists. The discussion continues with respect to the importance of organisation theory for organisations in the modern and competitive business environment. Furthermore, at the end the author provided various processes of revitalising the different changes appropriately.
