? Organization Introduction Organizational behaviour is considered as the study that concerns the significance of individuals, structures and groups for the issue of applying knowledge among employees within the organization for developing its overall effectiveness. The study of organizational behaviour is related to the anticipated behaviour for an individual in the organization. It can be stated in this regard that a proper organizational culture can provide effective behaviour. It can also be stated that cause-and-effect relationship plays a vital role in the context of organizational behaviour. theoretically, organizational behaviour is often explained as an application of managerial knowledge and skills used for investigating groups’ as well as individuals’ behaviour. Organizational behaviour also focuses on the study related to behavioural sciences such as psychology, anthropology, economics and political science among others. Hence, it can be stated that contributions from various individuals or employees in the organization assists in achieving greater efficiency over the long run (New Age International 2000). Emphasising on this particular understanding, the study will aim at assessing the role of organisational behaviour to mitigate the issues commonly witnessed by organisations taking into account the leadership approaches followed by organisational leaders in this concern. Issues of Organizational Behaviour: “What goes wrong in organizations?” The ‘human issues’ or simply issues related to organizational behaviour can be underlined as the major reasons behind organisations facing dilemmas related to its strategic performances. The organizational behaviour issues can be categorized in accordance with various managerial dimensions that include managing communications, issues related to motivation, appraisal and rewards for performance (Lycos Inc. 2013). Correspondingly, the description of the issues related to organizational behaviour has been elaborated in the following. Managing Communications Effective communications are important for organizational functioning. Contextually, it is the responsibility of the managers to pay proper attention towards communication process and assists in encoding as well as decoding the information and its conveyance from one person to other. The study of organizational behaviour utilizes information gathered and interpretation of the findings for canalizing the behaviour of individuals as well as groups within the organizational environment (Lycos Inc. 2013). It is in this context that prevalence of ineffective communication strategies often gives rise to perplexities within the organisational environment and thus works as a core reason for many organisational issues as can be witnessed in the case of HSBC (Slater and Cruise, 2012). Issues of Motivation Motivation plays a pivotal role in the organizational context often being referred as a determinant which reveals that how much effort can be given in order to attain organizational effectiveness by individual employees. Effective organizational behaviour helps in fostering motivation and team spirit in order to attain the desired objectives of the organization. However, in the absence of effective motivation, employees are most likely to avoid additional responsibilities and decipher reluctance towards change, giving rise to particular issues within the organisational environment (Lycos Inc. 2013). Performance and Rewards Appraisal Performance and rewards appraisal can be depicted as a process through which evaluation of contribution rendered by the employees in the organization are reviewed during a specific period of time. Appraisal of performance in the modern day context emphasizes on objectives to attain the desired level of performance as well as setting of goals for the organization. Hence, in the absence of such systems, organisational leaders are likely to lack in directing employees towards organisational goals and thus face difficulties in obtaining the desired level of performance from the workforce. Discrepancies in the performance and the corresponding appraisal systems have often acted as a sole reason for organisational issues (Lycos Inc. 2013). Employee Attitudes Attitudes of employees are important in organizational context for understanding, monitoring as well as managing various issues commonly witnessed within organizational environment. Contextually, it can be stated that higher involvement of workers help in maintaining greater productivity and efficiency in the organization. On the other hand, job dissatisfaction leads to turnover, absenteeism and other behavioural issues which if not mitigated shall further give rise to many other adverse effects (Lycos Inc. 2013). Participation and Empowerment Participation and empowerment is also considered as one of the important success drivers for the effective functioning of modern day organizations. It is a process through which employees are empowered in the organizations and are directed towards the accomplishment of organisational goals. It is also considered as emotional and mental improvement of employees in a group that assists in encouraging their contribution towards maintaining organizational effectiveness. It is worth mentioning in this context that lacuna in the proper empowerment and participation of employees towards organisational goals result in overall organisational deficiencies in the long run and thus gives rise to various issues (Lycos Inc. 2013). Managing Change Managing change can also be depicted as an important issue of organization behaviour. It is the responsibility of the management to overcome the resistance of employees towards change through restraining and supporting forces relevant to the process. Correspondingly, managers are encouraged through a systematic way for changing the environment of the organization through various activities as well as approaches and thus mitigate the issue brought about with the controllable or uncontrollable changes (Lycos Inc. 2013). Ethical Issues There are other issues related to organizational behaviour identifiable with reference to the framework for ethical behaviour, decision tree for diagnosing decisions ethically, variation in moral orientation by gender, moral principles for managers and ways of improving ethical climate. In the modern day context, such issues have been observed as quite common within organizational environment. It is in this context that moral principles, values are significant in describing organization behaviour (Kinicki and Kreitner 2009). Furthermore, in the context of general moral principles it can be stated that today managers in organizations depend vividly on moral principles which assists them to maintain their decisions in the appropriate manner in accordance with the situation and are defensible in the right sense of the term. In this similar context, it can be stated that managers need to embed important decisions of the organization for establishing a better effective work culture within the organizational environment (Kinicki and Kreitner 2009). Prevention of Organizational Issues: “How do leaders prevent and fix those issues?” Undoubtedly, the modern day business context and organisational behaviour presents a complex and multidimensional approach to managerial perspectives. Limitations in either of these paradigms, as mentioned above, can impose strong adverse impacts on organizational performances and thus should be effectively by the leaders. Contextually, in order to deal with such issues, leaders have been observed to commonly follow the below mentioned strategies. Ethical Considerations Managers are potentially the role models for subordinates whose behaviour and habits mark the importance of conduction of ethical behaviour within the organization. The employees are needed to follow the steps of the managers which would help in effective functioning of the organization owing to which it is highly recommendable that leaders behave in ethical manner, especially when acting upon organisational interests (Kinicki and Kreitner 2009). Providing Ethical Training Through developing and communicating effective code of ethics, organizational issues can be prevented. Moreover, the management is likely to be supported by the management to attain the organizational goals by performing efficiently. The employees are also to be provided ethical training in this regard by the management which would help in preventing organizational issues by a large extent. Providing proper training to employees would assist the managers in preventing misrepresentation of ethical conducts by employees and also in strengthening the communication within the organisational dimensions (Kinicki and Kreitner 2009). Management of Communication and Participation It can also be stated that managing communication is considered as an important issue of organizational behaviour in the current day phenomenon. Through effective communication among managers and employees, greater organizational issues can be prevented, fostering development of the organization over the long-run. Moreover, greater participation and empowerment of employees helps in mitigating many organizational issues related to operational complexities and organisational dilemmas. Additionally, with effective teamwork and communication from both employees and management issues can be reprimanded. This would also help in mitigating the chances of fraudulent practices within the organization, enhancing its overall effectiveness through stakeholders’ commitment. Contextually, it is the responsibility of the team leaders to provide feedbacks for the activities performed as well as fostering cohesiveness for the organization. Managers or leaders must also understand that if the organizational team is facing problems, it is necessary for team leaders to take corrective measures to mitigate the issues in a time efficient and highly effective way (Griffin and Moorehead 2011). Leadership and Performance Appraisal Effective leadership with organisational environment, deciphered by interpersonal roles towards decision making can further play a major role in mitigating organizational issues of any organization. In this context, it can be stated that by motivating members in the organization, managers are capable of attaining their desired organizational goals. It can also be stated that with the management of group dynamics with effective leadership, various issues can be prevented at the onset. Additionally, the leaders are also responsible in evaluating performance of employees and provide rewards to the employees for maintaining effective performance that can certainly result in the successful prevention of organizational behaviour related issues by a greater extent (Griffin and Moorehead 2011). Conclusion From the above observation, it can be comprehended that the organizational behaviour acts as a vital aspect in the modern day context. It is an application of managerial knowledge and skills used for investigating group as well as individual behaviour within an organizational setting. The issues of organizational behaviour such as managing communication, leadership, participation, and change management among others are required to be mitigated for organizational effectiveness. It is worth mentioning in this context that effective communication, effective leadership, and adherence to proper ethical standards shall be referred as major initiatives to mitigate issues related with organizational behaviour.
