?Operations management By Management of Introduction The concept of Operations management refers to the overall administration, constructing and controlling the process of manufacturing and redesigning the business activities. In essence, the area of operations management involves whole responsibility of ensuring that the business activities and processes are efficient (EDITORS OF TIME OUT, 2011). The efficiency can be ensured by proper utilization of resources to avoid wastage and achieve the desired goals, which should be inclined to clientele demands. In addition, it encompasses proper overseeing of all processes involved in the conversion of raw materials into finished goods. For smooth association among all the levels of management works and professional ethics should be recognized and practiced. Indeed, proper initializing and implementing of management operations from the primary motivating factor for the company in its bid to achieve desired goals. In most cases, there are two levels of management. They include higher-level officers and line officers. The higher-level official carry out the roles of shaping the company’s strategy whereas the line official make tactical decisions intended to support the initialization and implementation of the strategy. The company This paper intends to examine the Abu Dhabi national hotels company. It opened its doors 30 years ago and it has consistently sustained high level of operations management that has seen it grow to high levels (EDITORS OF TIME OUT, 2011). The superior and exemplary customer service offered together with the element of design and architecture has been the pillar factors for the unprecedented continuity characterized by rapid expansion across the globe. Operation management systems This paper intends to examine the operations management system appreciated in the company. More over, the study by extension intends to identify the weaknesses of the system and point out possible solutions. It is evident that, the company has stringent and apposite management operation system, which has seen the company grow from a humble beginning to a multi-faceted operation presently with diverse interests in the leisure and hospitality industries. The management operations systems of the Abu Dhabi Company involve the management department, tourism services division and the purchasing divisions (EDITORS OF TIME OUT, 2011). The management of the company endeavors in providing bespoke, understated luxury and circumspect, attentive service in a modish and elegant ambience. This statement forms the mission of the company, which has continually motivated both the employees in low levels and the managerial team to work towards achieving this noble objective. The weakness of the management system The internal control systems are weak in the sense that the audit trail is not subsequent in most cases and this result to relatively larger material omissions. The internal control systems on purchasing, and sales of raw materials and food products respectively, cannot facilitate proper trailing of transactions and this contributes to lack of transparency and accountability (CHEN, 2009). This situation does not exactly enable reporting of the rue and fair position of the company. In fact small, numerous immaterial omissions form material omissions, which are significant in determining the true position of the company. Mission and vision The mission, of the Abu Dhabi Company is “Experienced Management for the Abu Dhabi Tourism Industry”. The values believed by the Abu Dhabi hotel and resort include integrity, respect and service excellence. The vision of the company is “Discover the pinnacle of service and hospitality among Abu Dhabi Hotels. The mission mentions the company but does not touch on anything doing with the clientele and products. Similarly, the mission does not mention of the channels applied when transporting goods to clients (EDITORS OF TIME OUT, 2011). Priorities of the company The competition should be founded on the quality, cost, flexibility and speed. The quality of the services offered by the Abu Dhabi hotels and resorts across the globe are exemplary and above the normal standards. On flexibility, the Abu Dhabi Company’s aspect of embracing cultural diversity has enhanced the company to remain relevant in the dynamic trends in all the fields of life. This included social, economical and political (CHEN, 2009). The cultural diversity is as result of drawing employees from across the globe to work in diverse subsidiaries spread across the world. The art of technology embraced by this company in carrying out the management operations which included transactions completion and financial and accounting trailing, has made the company remain relevant in a dynamic market characterized by speedy ordering, purchasing, selling and delivery (EDITORS OF TIME OUT, 2011). Through competitive online transactions embraced by Abu Dhabi firm has enhanced the company in terms of profitability index increase and extension to other nations. More over, the cost of services and products offered by the firm is considerably affordable and this attracts. The company’s strategies The Company’s strategies involve marketing, operations and financial strategies. On the marketing strategies, the management of the Abu Dhabi firm has an extensive online marketing strategy. The firm markets its services and products through the firm’s websites (BELLINI, & DAGLIO, 2008). The diverse services and products are well presented online with the distinct features. In addition, the company has a well-established network of agencies and representatives across the globe, which carries out the sole duty of increasing the already occupied market nice in the global scale (DAGHFOUS & BARKHI, 2009). On the other and, the appreciation of technology has simplified the baggage of recording of activities, which are coded and stored online. This has enhanced retrieval of any necessary information when it is required and consequent ease in operations. The financial strategies on the other hand, have attained an exemplary level where, the financial position f the company is always kept at a given threshold (BELLINI, & DAGLIO, 2008). The firm outlines explicitly the numerous ways and places to invest and how to sustain such projects. Management of the company’s finances can be termed as apt due to the strength exhibited by the internal control systems, which have made financial, auditing trailing to be transparent, and accountability (NICOLOPOULOU, 2011). The vision and mission are manifested in the management strategies in numerous but indirect ways. For instance, the management strategies are intended to achieve the sole aim of better service to clientele and overall attainment of the company’s goal of applying the very finest management skills to achieve the desirable services (CHEN, 2009). Capacity planning The company has an intensive structure of managing human capacity. Outsourcing from other subsidiaries is a common strategy applied to quell crisis in other branches. More over, the overtime trend is applicable in most of the Abu Dhabi subsidiaries with intent of extending sustenance incentives to the employees (BELLINI, & DAGLIO, 2008). In fact, the overtime trend is well paid to ensure favorable pay relevant to the work done. Forecasting Forecasting refers to the determination of the future standing of a company. The Abu Dhabi firm applies the cash flow technique to forecast the future trends of the company’s continuity of diminishing. The cash flow forecast is fundamental in determining the change in cash flow both inwards and outwards consequently determination of future standing of the firm. The forecasting is monitored by the demand and supply trends (DAGHFOUS & BARKHI, 2009). Demand pattern The demand pattern is dynamic due to the dynamic nature of the growing population that requires better services during their tourist ventures (BELLINI, & DAGLIO, 2008). The dependent demand varies as factors such economic trends vary whilst the independent demand does not depend on international or external factors. Independent demand exists because of the nature and strength of the firm’s brand. Role of an operations manager The operations manger is one of the top levels managers in the company’s hierarchy of leadership. The operations manager is responsible fro numerous functions, which include stating up new ventures by initializing functionasl activities wich, encompass strategy development and initials hotel operations processes and offering management skills in coordinating daily operations of the firm and its ventures (BELLINI, & DAGLIO, 2008). The operations manager is sole responsible for initializing of the information technology and communication systems for ventures. This includes telephone and intent systems. More over, the manager coordinates the legal issues related to the company; this might include the company copyright, governing tools, licensing, partnerships and organizational insurance policy. The operations manager is entitled to the preparation of the annual Business plans. Further more the operations manager is charged with the coordination of the company’s branding, promotions, advertising and marketing strategies and campaigns (BELLINI, & DAGLIO, 2008). On the same note the, manager is responsible for coordination the central reservation system. In essence, the operations manger is charged with the overall responsibility of overseeing the company’s initialization and implementation of ventures, processes that touches on the employees, partners and the customer base. This implies the position of the operations manager is such sensitive due to the magnitude of the responsibilities endowed on him. In conclusion, the Abu Dhabi hotels and resorts is one of the competitive companies in the hotel and hospitality industry (BELLINI, & DAGLIO, 2008). It has global connections and consequent subsidiaries. The extent of expansion enjoyed by this company tells on the kind of economic stability enjoyed. The company’s management has tremendously embraced the spirit of cultural diversity, particularly on the recruitment of employees. The company as sustained the spirit of its vision of providing excellent services to the clients and this as seen it grow, expand both local and global market niche.
