Workers or rather employees must be protected from hazardous chemicals and materials which could be harmful in case of getting into contact with the skin of an employee. This calls for a strict identification of these materials and strict following of the precautions to prevent any damages. It is therefore, necessary for employees handling hazardous materials to be provided with equipment such as breathing masks that would guard them against inhaling any hazardous chemicals. Necessary equipment like ladders, staircases, ropes and helmets must be bought to make sure that nobody will be hurt when carrying out the day to day tasks of the projects. Safety must be enhanced by calling for assistance from special inspectors who will be able to judge the probability of injuries and accidents in given processes. These inspectors should also be able to offer advice to the workers before commencement of the task. Other necessary measures like insurance coverage against accidents should also be revised carefully (Quality Control and Safety during Constructions, 2011, p 2). Quality is also an important factor in a construction activity. Workers should undergo proper training and contracts should be awarded with regard to competence in given areas of specialization. Conformance to the specifications given by the body awarding the contract must be clearly observed. The design decisions and quality control procedures must be approved and conformed to. Quality issues should be objective, clear and measurable to increase certainty of the construction. However, some areas might need re-evaluation and the owners can impose some necessary changes and this is acceptable. During planning and designing, risky activities need to be identified and the employee involved in the activity alerted of the risks involved in order to prevent taking of unnecessary risks. Moreover, vigilance, cooperation and skills are very important to enhance safety in taking all the activities of a construction project. It is therefore important for the project supervisors to ensure there is good cooperation and coordination of activities (Quality Control and Safety during Constructions, 2011, p 2). They should also ensure that all the safety precautions are adhered to. Though most project constructions involve reliance on inspectors for safety and quality control, it is important for all teams and team members to recognize quality as a major objective of the undertaking. With this in mind, it will be possible for cooperation to be achieved. Research Objective The main objective of this research is to come up with accurate information that will help in constructing a sensible framework that will help in risk evaluation, risk and safety management and risk control in the setting up of a mobile concrete construction project. Research Question What are the main risk and safety concerns in the activities of the construction project? How can these risks be managed? What measures can be taken in the risk control procedures? Literature Review Risk management is a major issue in safety planning and control. Many undertakings/activities in a construction project are involved with great risks and uncertainties which have to be managed. Risk management is therefore, a systematic procedure of identification of risky activities and determining how these undertakings will be undertaken to
Background of the Research Introduction In a construction project, failures and defects in constructions are very costly because they have to be corrected before proceeding to the next level. Minor defects are not left out in this case since they can leave a contractor with n option but to re-construct a facility which is both time and funds consuming…
Use of a bonding substance with an aggregate dates back to Assyrians and Babylonians culture. Later Egyptians used lime and gypsum cement as bonding material. Concept of modern day concrete, which consists of binding an aggregate with the cement paste, came from our ancestors.
The author states that there are several steps involved in the manufacturing process of concrete including material selection and preparation of cement, mixing, and transportation to the site or compacting, curing and quality control. The process of concrete manufacturing follows these steps after which it becomes ready to use for the construction.
The instances observed in Japan today and the previous Chernobyl catastrophe in Russia are just some of the worst nuclear meltdowns experienced in the international setting. There are over 112 nuclear plants already established in the United States (Greenwald, 1991) and some of these plants have already experienced malfunctions.
Businesses require a fast, in-time communication system for succeeding. Communicational delays could result in clients’ dissatisfaction, lost opportunities due to in-time decision making requirements, huge financial losses and sales reductions.
