Here, I focused on self analysis for a position of Mechanical Engineer in oil industry. 21st century is an era of competition and it is essential to prepare oneself to be presented in a better prospect. The main aim of this paper is to analyze my strengths and weaknesses in marketing for better career growth in future. In this paper, I will analyze my characteristics and the situation that I am facing in my current position. I present myself as a company that is willing to attract its targeted customers, i.e. the employers. Overview Self analysis is an important factor to promote oneself in this competitive era. With the changes in the global environment, organizations are now-a-days providing increasing significance to the human resources, i.e. the employees who can contribute to the achievement of the organizational goal and create value. Therefore, the prospective employees are required to prove better than others and it is essential to gain competency and thus persuade the employers to benefit them. This paper mainly focuses to promote myself in the oil industry. With this concern, the paper shall present a company analysis indicating me as the company. Furthermore, customer analysis will be performed considering my employer as the targeted customer. Competitive analysis, value chain analysis, country climate analysis and SWOT analysis will also be performed as self-assessing tools. Company Analysis My aim is to become a Mechanical Engineer in oil and gas industry in a managerial position. The task of the mechanical engineer is to perform research, assess the mechanical equipments and taking special care of the machines. The Mechanical Engineer of oil industry requires dealing with various managerial operations such as: Processing of the industrial system Manufacturing system i.e. plant and products Dealing with the transport equipments Infrastructure structure on the oil platform Computer mechanism and measures I have completed Mechanical Engineering course as my educational qualification that has provided me with an in-depth knowledge of the industry operations. Thus, it would be beneficial for the oil industry to employ me. Because I can deal with the factors related with the post of Mechanical Engineer in the oil industry. I have a capability to motivate my subordinates through my communication skills, commitment, and trust. I am also hard working and can face any organizational challenge. These factors can be highly beneficial for the oil industry to gain customer competency and the value chain management with the assistance of productive manpower. This in turn can maintain long term profitability in the marketing field on the whole. On the similar context, being an employee of the industry I can gain prestige in the locality. It can be stated that being employed in the reputed firm can also reward me higher incentives as well as satisfactory career growth. And thus help me lead a healthy and successful life. It shall be a mutual understanding between the industry and me with a common objective of growth. As I wish to grow with my organizational competency, I can be highly productive for my employers. Customer Analysis US oil industry is one of the leading industries of the world. The industry had increased property acquirement and had caused total capital expenditures. It was analyzed through research studies performed by experts that the oil industry had doubled its total capital expenditures in 2010. The industry’s expenditures was $72.8 billion in 2009 but had increased as $177.9 billion in 2010. The industry also exports its products with an increased gas reserve by 12% in 2010. Therefore, from the data given above it can be stated that the oil industry of US are in the long term profitable market and wishes to gain competency with growing market share (Radler, 2011). In order to gain competency in long run, the industry should attain sustainable growth not only in terms of profits earned and quantity exported, but also through proper utilization of its manpower. Productive manpower is termed to be quite significant for the sustainable development of an organization providing it with competitive advantages in terms of internal strength and effective organizational culture. Competitive Advantages Oil industry had adopted several factors to gain competency into the market. The industry had adopted self pacing training classes in order to provide training for at least five years to the employees. In this regard, different seminars are conducted all over the world that in turn attracts the employees and thus result into increased productivity (Ruschau & Et. Al., n.d.). In this context, I shall prove to be beneficial for the industry as they would require an efficient and committed leader to train these professionals from around the world. It has been earlier stated that I have completed Mechanical Engineering and I also have the quality to take managerial decisions. I want to provide all my knowledge that I had gained through my learning in my entire educational journey to my profession. Value Chain Management The oil industry deals with the effective management related to machinery equipment. I feel confident in analyzing the present condition of the process and can take quick decisions regarding any changes in the operation. This in turn is likely to enhance the efficiency of the industry in dealing with various challenges existing in its value chain management. This would in turn minimize the overall costs as well as attain higher satisfaction of the suppliers in the industry. Country Climate To analyze the US oil industry climatic condition PEST analysis will be considered. Both external and internal environment are included to identify PEST condition of the country. Political Factors Us oil industry is one of the leaders in the global industry; political factors are likely to have minimum effect on its development. However, in the current scenario the political factors can be recognized as favorable for the industry growth in the country. Economic Factors The current market of the US is facing problems related to the Soviet Union. With growing inflationary rates and increasing price of oil and gas, the industry is currently facing challenges in terms of ‘threat of substitutes’. Social Factors Oil and gas have emerged to be some of the necessary products for human life. Although the customers of the industry face significant limitations in terms of affordability, it is likely that the social aspects are not quite impactful in this industrial context. Technological Factors Technology advancement has taken place with rapidity and apparently in the US oil industry. Not only in terms of oil and gas extracting and refining machineries, but also in terms of information technology and safety, the industry has become dependent on technological factors. SWOT Analysis Strengths I am confident and competent as well I have an educational qualification of Mechanical Engineering to support the industrial functions I have the ability to deal with challenging circumstances Good decision-making skills and communication skills Common objectives with that of the industry Weaknesses At times I realized to be stressed out due to which I require taking breaks at frequent periodic intervals Opportunities The industry is on rapid growth with better carrier-oriented objectives There are opportunities to test my aptitude and skills There is scope to get trained professionally Threats There are many other professionals who are seeking employment opportunity in this industry who can be my threat to some extent Attracting employees from global platform can also be recognized as a threat References Radler, M., 2011.
