?Client’s 23 January In this performance oriented society one needs to have that edge in order to beat the competition. Being proactive is the key, hardly a very few of us are proactive. This paper will give succinct details of three companies that have been doing increasingly well in the past. Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group is one of the most popular and successful company in India. The company is extremely well controlled and not only is it well controlled but also the company exceeds the expectations of the shareholders every year. This goes to show that the company follows the principles of management very carefully be it planning, controlling or for that matter staffing. The Reliance group was earlier headed by the Late Dhirubhai Ambani, father of Mukesh and Anil Ambani and the company has been split into two now, both the brothers came to an unanimous decision to split the company into two. The company which is being talked about here is headed by Anil Ambani, the company is into more than one sector and every sector is very well controlled by Anil Ambani the Managing director of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group. The company is into Capital, communication, entertainment and power. Anil Ambani is one of the richest people in the world and this is all because of his management skills. He has put efforts in making sure that the principles of management are stuck to by his company. The company is very strong financially; the company recently reported a quarterly profit US$ 14.2 and this speaks volumes about the controlling process going on in the company. It can be made out how good or bad the controlling process is by the annual results of a company and in this case it is very certain that Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group is very well controlled. “Reliance Natural Resources Ltd (RNRL), part of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, has posted a net profit of $17.14 million (Rs.686 million) during 2007-08 as compared to $7.21 million the previous fiscal.” (Reliance Comm). It is very clear from the stats that the company is very well managed and the controlling process especially is very well taken care of. There would be innumerable advantages of working in this company, I hardly see any disadvantages. JP Morgan Chase The oldest financial services in the world is without a doubt JP Morgan Chase, it has its presence in well over 60 countries. They are the leaders in investment banking, wealth management and a host of other services. The biggest change that ever took place in the history of the financial institutions was the merger with Bank One. This change primarily took place because the other banks like the Bank of America were almost ready to merge with other big banks like FleetBoston. This merger took place because the financial institutions came under increasing pressure during the time of recession. The announcement of this merger was made on 14 January 2004. The Wall Street reacted very positively because of this merger and the NASDAQ witnessed growth soon after the merger took place. This change took place because the two financial institutions wanted to downsize and cut the deadwood out. The aim was to save about $2.2 billion over three years and it was planned to eliminate as many as 10,000 people. This again goes to show how desperate even the biggest financial institutions were at the time of recession. Mergers and acquisitions were very common and these overtures were the initial signs which showed that almost all the big financial institutions were panicking. Volatile corporate banking was the major factor on which JP Morgan primarily functioned. “Wall Street analysts generally praised the merger, and investors climbed on board. Typically, the shares of the acquirer fall, reflecting the cost of the acquisition. In this case, investors are signaling they believe the combined company will make up for that cost by holding the shares in the $39-$40 range, about where they were before the deal was announced. J.P. Morgan has been on a roll, with its shares up about 74% in the past 12 months.” (JP Morgan Chase) The investors looked less enthusiastic with the deal between Bank of America and Fleet-Boston. This deal was for a whopping $48 billion. The shares of Fleet-Boston were driven up as a result of this deal because Bank of America offered 40% premium in this deal. The shares of Bank of America however came down and the investors lost a lot of money consequently. Big mergers take place because both the companies involved in the merger want to grow at a tremendous pace but this merger was not very useful for both the financial institutions. Bell Bell has been incredibly successful in promoting its touring theatre production, people who responded were fully aware of the production and the response was certainly overwhelming. The respondents aren’t aware of many other programs such as the online resources for students. It fails to catch the attention of the people because of its flawed marketing technique. It fails to catch the attention of the respondents because of the limited exposure that it gets and as an inevitable result of which the respondents fail to acknowledge wonderful opportunities. Another important factor which affects the respondent’s interest is because their inclination towards performance, it is very common for them to completely neglect the other programs in the general newsletter. Many a time they just have a glance and most of the time the other programs get completely neglected. The general newsletter is perhaps the most effective way of communication; it has been successful in marketing almost anything. All most all the donors recall getting a newsletter and this goes to show that it is very effective. The lapsed donors were unsuccessful and this goes to show that the donations received by Bell aren’t quite utilized the way it is meant to be utilized. Bell can undoubtedly improve on its communication, their financial report can be provided to the donors if not on a monthly basis but at least on a quarterly basis. The donors stop contributing towards the organization because of two main reasons, they either run out of money or they lose the desire to help the same organization over and over again. If they run out of money then it is still acceptable because upon recuperating, they will again start helping the organization. If they stop because of lost interest in the organization, then they can be retained by improving the communication system at Bell. They should be assured that the money received from their donation is utilized in the best possible manner and once this is done, they will certainly never lose their desire of helping the same organization over and over again. There is cut throat competition in the arts and cultures section and Bell needs to be at its very best in order to retain the donors. Many donors are captivated by Shakespeare performing arts and Bell can capitalize on it by showing a lot of zeal towards Shakespeare performing arts. This would certainly please the donors and in this way Bell can retain and even add new donors to its list. Ticket incentive can be provided to the donors in order to win their favor and in order to attract new donors. This is a great way of adding new donors and it can be tried in order to rope in new donors. Bell Shakespeare should mainly focus on theatre arts in order to satisfy the current donors and in order to lure new donors. This also calls for a change; Bell should cut on other unnecessary activities and focus on theatre arts in order to attract people from all age groups. Works Cited JP Morgan Chase (2004).
