Question no Can I confirm that your e has caretaking services? When the respondents were inquired regarding their e having caretaking services, it was found that out of 400 respondents only 134 of them did not had caretaking service. It was amazing to find that most of the respondents (i.e. 266) that were interviewed on the telephone had caretaking services at their estate. On the other hand, respondents that did not have caretaking service were not interviewed any further, leaving the total respondents to 266. The graphical representation of this question is as follows; Question no.2 (a.) Thinking about what happens on your estate are you, Personally, satisfied or dissatisfied with: Removal of litter. This question was aimed to inquire the satisfaction or dissatisfaction level of respondent regarding the removal of litter from their estate. Through this question, it was found that almost half of the respondents; interviewed through telephone, were satisfied with the particular service of caretaking; removal of litter. The number of respondents personally satisfied was 165 (almost 62% of total respondents). On contrary, it was found that the number of respondents not personally satisfied were not far behind. The number of respondents dissatisfied with the caretaking service; removal of litter, were 99 (almost 37%). It was also observed that only 2 of the total respondents avoided this particular question with no response. The graphical representation of the response generated is as follows; Question no.2 (b.) Thinking about what happens on your estate are you, Personally, satisfied or dissatisfied with: Cleaning of bin areas. This question is an extension of the earlier question. The aim of this question is to analyze the personal level of satisfaction or dissatisfaction regarding the cleaning on bin areas. It was found through the responses that 164 of the respondents were personally satisfied with their caretaking service; cleaning of bin areas. On the other hand, only 70 of the total respondents were dissatisfied with this particular caretaking service. It was also observed that 32 of the respondents were unaware of this particular caretaking service and the respondents were had no opinion regarding this matter. The graphical representation of the response generated is as follows; Question no. 2 (c.) Thinking about what happens on your estate are you, personally, Satisfied or dissatisfied with: Maintenance of communal lighting. This question is yet another expansion of the earlier question. This question was aimed to analyze the satisfaction and dissatisfaction level of respondents regarding the maintenance of communal lighting. Through this particular question, it was found that only 72 of the respondents were personally dissatisfied with the maintenance of communal lighting; component of caretaking services. On the other hand, the number of respondents satisfied with this particular service was more than double as compared to respondents that were dissatisfied (i.e. 183), representing 69 percent of the total respondents. It was also observed that 11 of the respondents remained neutral on this particular matter and did not provide any response regarding this question. The graphical representation of this question is as follows; Question no.2 (d.) Thinking about what happens on your estate are you, personally, Satisfied or dissatisfied with: Cleaning of rubbish chute areas. To further analyze the personal satisfaction and dissatisfaction level of respondents they were inquired regarding the cleaning of rubbish chute areas by the caretaking services. The responses provided by the respondents gave a lot of exposure as it was found that only 70 out of 266 respondents were highly satisfied with this service. On the other hand, it was also found that only 31 of the total respondents were dissatisfied with the level of cleaning of rubbish chute areas at their estate. It was observed that more than 60 percent of the total respondents remained neutral on this particular matter and had no opinions regarding the cleaning of rubbish chute areas at their estate. The graphical representation of this question is as follows; Question no.2 (e.) Thinking about what happens on your estate are you, personally, Satisfied or dissatisfied with: Removal of bulk rubbish. The question is regarding the personal feelings of respondents i.e. whether they are satisfied or dissatisfied when it comes to the removal of bulk rubbish from their estate. It was amazing to find that more than half of the total respondents (i.e. 196), representing approximately 74%, were satisfied with the caretaking services; removal of bulk rubbish from their estate. In contrast, it could be said that only 51 of the respondents interviewed through telephone were personally not satisfied with the service of removal of bulk rubbish from their estate. On the other hand, the respondents that did not provide any opinion regarding this particular matter were only 19 or it could be said that these respondents were unaware of this facility provided by the caretaking services. The graphical representation of this question is as follows; Question no.3 Do you think it should be part of the Caretakers job to remove bulk rubbish? This question was aimed to analyze the perception of respondents regarding the removal of bulk rubbish to be a part of the caretaking services or the caretaker of the estate. It was found that only 90 of the total respondents thought that it should be the caretaker’s job to remove bulk of rubbish from the estate whereas, the number of respondents that were against this thinking were not far behind. The number of respondents that were against the thinking that removal of bulk rubbish should be the part of caretaker’s job was 80.On the other hand, 94 of the respondents remained neutral on this matter. Only 2 respondents did not answer this question. To graphically represent this data, pie-chart has been used and the responses are graphically represented below. Question no.4 If bulk rubbish removal could be dealt with by specialist contractors, it could free time for the caretakers to focus on their other duties. Do you think this would be a good idea? This question was to analyze the perception of respondents regarding the change in responsibilities of caretakers; bulk rubbish removal. It was found that 182 of the total respondents feel that it would be a good idea to provide the caretakers with more free time so that the caretakers can enhance their performance while the bulk rubbish removal could be dealt by specialist contractors. On the other hand, 35 out of the total respondents think that this idea might not be a good one. According to them, caretakers should deal with the bulk rubbish removal along with other duties instead of hiring specialist contractor to deal with the bulk rubbish removal from the estate. It was also observed that 46 out of 266 respondents remained neutral on the matter of reducing the facilities provided by the caretakers at estate and to let the specialist contractor deal with the bulk rubbish removal. The graphical representation of the responses is as follows; Question no.5 (a.) If this specialist service is introduced it could incur extra costs. Do you think it would be fair to pass all or some of this on to tenants/leaseholders? This question was aimed to find the views of the respondents regarding the introduction of specialist service and the additional cost associated with it. It was found that 62 of the total respondents agreed that the some or all of the additional cost to introduce the specialist service should be passed down to tenants whereas; majority of the respondents (i.e. 144) disagreed that the tenants should pay the additional costs associated with the specialist service. 57 of the respondents remained neutral on this matter. On the other hand, only 3 of the respondents did not answer this question. The graphical representation of this question is as follows; Question no.5 (b.) How much weekly contribution would you, personally, be willing to pay? This question is regarding the additional costs associated with the introduction of specialist service. The aim of this question is to analyze the level of weekly spending by the respondents for such introduction. Through this question, it was found that 183 of the respondents; the majority, would pay nothing for the introduction. It was also observed that 41 of the respondents agreed to pay weekly but less than £1.00. On the other hand, 21 of the respondents agreed to make weekly contribution for the sole purpose of specialist service and their weekly contribution would be between £1.01 and £1.50. It was noticeable that only 5 of the respondents agreed to pay above £1.50. Only 16 of the respondents did not answer this question. Question no.6 (a.) At the moment on your estate, cleaning is carried out up to the front door of the block but does not include internal communal areas. Would you like the cleaning services to cover the internal areas such as passageways and common areas in the blocks? This question is regarding the internal areas such as passageways and common areas to be cleaned by the caretaking services. The responses from the respondents were amazing as 173 out of 266 respondents were in favor that the internal communal areas should be cleaned by the caretaking services. On the other hand, 56 of the respondents opposed to the idea that internal communal areas such as passageways and common areas in the blocks should be cleaned by the caretaker. It was also noticeable that 31 of the respondents remained neutral on this matter and only 6 of the respondents did not answer this question. The graphical representation of the response generated is as follows; Question no.6 (b.) If this additional service is introduced it might incur extra costs. Do you think it would be fair to pass all or some of this on to tenants/leaseholders? This question is referring to the additional costs associated with the additional services provided by the caretaker. This question was aimed to find the respondents that felt that the additional costs should be divided and passed on to the tenants and leaseholders for the additional services. It was found that 82 of the respondents were in favor that it would be fair to pass some or all the additional costs associated with the additional service should be levied upon the tenants and the leaseholders. On the other hand, 136 were highly against this methodology; to pass all or some of the cost on the tenants and leaseholders. It was also observed that 42 of the respondents remained neutral on the matter of passing the additional cost for cleaning the internal communal areas on the tenants and leaseholders. Only 6 of the respondents did not answer this question. Question no.6 (c.) How much weekly contribution would you, personally, be willing to pay? This question is regarding the contribution each respondent could personally make for the purpose of introducing additional services; cleaning the internal communal areas, by the caretakers at extra cost. This question is aimed to analyze that how much would each respondent pay for such service. It was found that where most of the respondents wanted caretakers to clean internal communal areas along with the external areas and for this purpose 165 of the respondents have said that they would pay nothing for the additional services provided by the caretaker. On the other hand, only 21 of the respondents were in favor of paying less than 50p weekly for additional services whereas 41 of the respondents agreed to pay between 51p and £1.00. It was also found that 15 of the respondents were willing to pay between £1.01 and £1.50 and 10 of the respondents were willing to pay between £1.51 and £2.00 for the cleaning of internal areas. Moreover, it was amazing to know that even 10 of the respondents were willing to pay over £1.50 for the additional service by the caretakers. The graphical representation of this last question of the telephonic interview is as follows; Caretaking Services For The Estate Finally when the respondents were asked to provide comments regarding the caretaking services for the estate, it was found that most of the tenants and leaseholders were quite satisfied with the caretaker’s job. Most of the respondent informed that the internal communal areas were being cleaned by the caretaker during the service and the caretaking services have been paid for the cleaning of internal area. It was also found through the comments made by respondents that for additional services, the respondents would willingly contribute but as little as possible. Some of the respondents provided information regarding what needs to be done at the estate. Some major services that needs to be done at the estate includes; cutting and cleaning of the garden, window cleaning, cleaning of bins, walls to be cleaned regularly, improvement in street lighting etc. It was also found that some of the tenants were willing to pay higher, if the caretaking service can assure quality work. The problem that has been continuously been commented on is regarding the quality work of the caretaker. Most of the tenants are unaware of the work that the caretaker does and have complaints regarding the caretaker showing up and not doing quality work due to which tenants had to do the bins and other work themselves even after paying the caretaker. Another problem that has been commented on is regarding the lighting problem. The respondents told that they had serious lighting issues as the lights are on in the estate at daytime and no lighting at night due to which they require proper maintenance of lighting. Read More
