SWOT Analysis SWOT Analysis The strength and weakness are internal factors; whereas opportunity and threat are external factors. Usually an organization tries to use the strengths to minimize the weaknesses and capitalize of the opportunities to minimize the threats. Here one thing needs to be mentioned that threat and weaknesses can only be minimized; but can never be eliminated. This is applicable to all the firms irrespective of the size and the time in business (Kurtz, 2010, p.406).StrengthsThe reputation of foods is quite good.

The company also has relatively strong distribution system in the form of chain of grocery stores. WeaknessThe cost structure of the food products is quite high. Also the product line of the company is quite narrow. As the company is relatively new in the market, the brand awareness of the company is relatively low.OpportunitiesThere exists strong presence of government support. The number of new entrants at this point of time is quite low. There is also opportunity to make a concentric diversification by adding new, yet closely related products such as “hot deli” chickens to increase the width of the product line.

Also there is scope to position chicken as a healthy food product. (Kolb, 2008, p. 105)ThreatsThere are various kinds of substitute products in the market. Therefore the threat of switch made by the consumers is quite high. As the barriers to entry are quite low, chances of new entrants in the market is quite high. Due to economic downturn people are less inclined towards purchase and more inclined towards savings. Due to the increase in working female class, numbers of people looking for ready to eat food as compared to raw food products have increased.
