Personal marketing plan Introduction All human beings derive the motivation to live from particular things or circumstances but as for me, hailing from a humble background is in itself an enough motivation to make me work hard always in order to ‘save’ my family and myself from the pain of living in lack. Failure has not been and will not be among my vocabularies because my purpose in life is simply making the future of my family and mine better. This is why I have strived tirelessly all through my education towards becoming the best I can in becoming an intellection while at the same time harnessing my leadership skills. Having been a student leader through high school ad my college life, I have developed greater interest in pursuing political career in the future with no less an ambition than being a president after retiring from my professional career. The high self-esteem that people often point of me has been and continues to be my strength and this nurtures my high aspirations. Being honest, hardworking and maintaining high level of integrity are main virtues that are so true in defining myself, and these, I attribute to my loving mum and my teachers, who have taught me throughout my upbringing. Nevertheless, one would almost get a perception of a very serious guy in me but surprise would be to learn that I am one of the lightest persons you can ever meet. Life has taught me to take every opportunity that comes my way; in joy and in sorrow and make best of it. This therefore has trained me to be very sociable and at the same time very serious when it comes to matters that require such. Religion is also part of my life and I always spare my time for serving God amidst my tight schedules as my religious background has taught me. Having been born 23 years ago in the countryside, I must count myself to have experienced the taste of two centuries; the 20th and 21stcentury, which are differentiated by quality of living and sense of importance. My childhood, much of which was experienced through the late years of 20th century, had nothing at all to celebrate due to much suffering in hunger, poor living standards and poor economic status back in the village. However, life has turned a bit for the better as it continues to experience the good of the transition in century through education which has enabled me fetch some income from periodic employments and hence I am continually transforming the living of my family and myself. I must therefore appreciate my background for continually shaping me for who I am now. I have developed great zeal in hard work, creativity as well as being entrepreneurial, factors that would describe me. I have also developed a character of being sober while making decisions and counting on other people’s contribution. In my tenure as a student leader especially in college level, I learnt to consider others as better or at least equal beings and as such, their positions matter most in life. One great lesson that I have learnt through my life is that I will always need people for me to live and as such, good relations are mandatory both in work place and in private life. Among other life ambitions that I hold are settling in life after my graduation which will be in next year, securing a job not later than a year after graduation, marrying and raising a family from thirty years of age to about forty five after which I will retire from my career to pursue political ambitions. However, my immediate priority is on having the life of my parents and siblings (among which I am the first-born) improved through better housing, food, clothing and education. I also aspire to invest in food processing as have always been my ambition since my childhood and this forms one of the very immediate project that I will start after clearing my school through some savings that I have already amassed while schooling. This therefore demands of me of being good in balancing between personal ambitions and the corporate commitments. Corporate Mission: I will embrace virtues in living not only to transform my life but that of others; at work place, at home and general public as a leader. Goals and Objectives a. The most immediate goal is to have myself graduate for my undergraduate next year b. I will settle for my life in town and build a house for my family in the village besides establishing a food processing business in my rural area c. I will secure an attachment which I will service within three months before seeking for a permanent work placement d. Secure a job within one year of my graduation preferably in town e. Retire from career occupation and venture into politics after age forty five Strategic Plan: Situation Audit Living standards and life expectancy has improved through years especially through the 21st century through increased levels of literacy, technological advancement, good governance as well as improved economic performance except for the economic crisis of 2008. Nevertheless, many people continue to struggle through poverty while others are just slightly above poverty line. This means that every person has an active role to play towards improving his or her livelihood besides having the government invest higher in projects to improve the living of the citizens. The government must however be appreciated for its tireless efforts to have health care improved through such programs as the Obamacare through which accessibility and affordability of health services have improved (Graham, para 1-4). Besides, the government has increased its facilitation towards universal education by availing more funds for students’ higher education loans which has greatly assisted the poor in affording basic undergraduate education. This on the other hand has contributed to too many young people graduating with bachelor degrees and flooding in the market, which is critiqued for having limited employment opportunities (Cook, para 1-6). It is therefore not very obvious that when an individual graduates, he/she would out rightly secure an employment opportunity. This explains my projection in delaying before securing an employment opportunity after my graduation. Higher levels of education have increased rates of innovation and creativity as is shown through high level of technological advancement. The Americans lead in technological discoveries and innovation as would best be represented by computer programs and social media platforms. Technological advancement is increasingly contributing towards the economic development through creating job opportunities for the youths and this actually forms one of the sectors that absorb many of the school graduates. The governments continues to invest much in tapping the talents of the graduates through domestic incentives and which attract even high numbers of foreigners to seek job opportunities in the United States. This increasingly motivates the locals to take advantage of the enabling environment and study besides thriving in their careers of choice. We must however appreciate that joblessness continues to be a great challenge to the American economy and has been pointed out as the poorly performing sector in president Obama’s administration. More efforts are therefore needed to initiate creativity and investments by individuals especially the graduates as this would create employment opportunities not only for the entrepreneurs but also for others. Finally, leadership and politics being one of the pillars of economic development have been often criticized especially in the 21st century. The rising cost of living, increased security threats by international terrorism and domestic insecurity as well as the unstable dollar value are among the most pointed out issues through which the past and current governments have been blamed on failing (John, 17-22; Glosser, 618-624). If I would remember the poor state in which basic infrastructures like roads, schools and hospitals are in at my rural area, I would not fail to point out great failure in our political leadership. The treasury always allocates billions of tax payers’ money towards improving basic infrastructures much of which goes unaccounted for. There is therefore the need to have the whole system of governance reevaluated and morals and virtues be brought on board to save the situation (Graham, para 1-7). This explains my ambition to step in for developmental politics after retiring from my career line so as to try and bring about change in the political landscape as we currently have. There are various factors that re however influential in my life towards realization of the already cited goals as shown below. Neutral Factors As much as education standards and levels have improved through years, my welfare after school is not wholly dependent on which school I passed through but rather on the degree I pursued and my performance. I therefore don’t put so much of concentration on the foregoing economic position in my family because the government has made it possible that all students, especially those from humble backgrounds, can access loan facilities to help them study. I have been such a beneficiary and even if the payment attracts some interest, I feel privileged to have been facilitated in my quest for education. Competitive Environment The increase in number of graduates from higher education facilities positions each grandaunt in a position of uncertainty especially concerning getting employed. There is heightened competition for the few opportunities of employment that are available by the millions of graduates every year. However, with determination and having stood out in my studies, there is always a high chance of securing employment amidst the tight competition. SWOT Strengths Weaknesses a. Capacity to work under little or without supervision b. Exemplary creativity and innovative level c. Active and productive team worker d. Effective leadership learnt through student leadership tenures a. Am temperamental which often does not auger well b. Impatient c. Strong political affiliation which does not always go well at work place d. Hails from humble background hence constrained by finances in my ambitions Opportunities Threats a. Higher education which can enable me realize my ambitions b. Have been a leader which increase my opportunity to get into active national politics c. Investing d. Not limited with area of settlement but preference in towns for search of employment a. Strict and competitive job market b. Increased cost of living with direct implication on immediate life after school c. Poor political systems which may not create conducive environment for personal development Target market Having pursued bachelors in international business, I aspire to seek for an opportunity to work with manufacturing companies both local and international who definitely would benefit from my experience and training. However, working with the government especially in the ministry of international relations would be most preferred. Marketing Tactics Product: I am John Does, very ambitious, self-motivated, and principled in virtues, very creative, immediate former student organization chairperson and awaiting graduation as in international business major in 2015. Place: Currently, I have no restrictions on working location and as such can work from any town across the town and even across the borders. Promotion: My great interest in employment is revolutionizing the international business through online technology as one tool that has turned out as very effective for marketing and promotion as well as in virtual trading. Online transactions is my preferred choice of trading medium especially in 21st century and through this, companies can be able to have customers allover not under the limitation of geography and such physical barriers. I believe I am competent in the tool and therefore would be willing to extend my services to all who would be interested. Wage: Although without any quotable maximum, I must appreciate the efforts of any employer who would be ready to meet my basic life expenses alongside having a margin for my growth. Nevertheless, I would take no amount less than $ 60 thousand net annual year total for my wage. Control: For effectiveness in controlling my desire in career growth as a project, I have a timeline through which my career would follow. First, I must devote some time for experience through an attachment program, at least for three months before I get my job placement as anticipated. However, my attachment period will also be interjected with job applications and interviews. Timing: My graduation is scheduled for early 2015 after which I have purposed to start off my attachment program, which I look forward to run for three months. I would get a little break after my attachment through which I will have domestic plans set on track and start off my processing business. This will not stop me from starting off my job if lucky to have secured one. Periodic evaluation of time programming will happen after every three months to ensure that I keep on track.
