Positive and Negatives of Company Cases Apple and Samsung have faced several court cases with Apple suing Samsung for allegedly interfering with their products. Four of those were design patents that were about how the devices look and feel. Others were utility patent on how the devices function. For example the use of slide to unlock, the Android software, data trapping, and auto complete et cetera. Samsung too had sued Apple for violating two of its patents of which they were awarded $138,000 (Miller 208).

Positive Samsung still sells the two patents hence making a lot of revenues. The competitions from rival companies have been heightening.Intellectual property value is still maintained hence innovation is still highly regarded. The American patent system has been reaffirmed.The top leadership of the both companies has not changed because the focus has been on the products offer by the companies and not the scandals. Besides the products, the focus has also been on the growth of these companies.

The competition between Apple and Samsung has been elevated with each of them keen to its philosophy. Apple Inc philosophy is to design quality products to the market while Samsung is to remain competitively active. Software innovation standards have been increasingly heightened. Companies’ inherent desire to invent new products to outdo each other in innovation is so intense.NegativesSamsung have lost a lot of money that have been awarded to Apple Inc. Apple has also lost a lot of money that was awarded to Apple for violating the company’s patent.

Apple succeeded only on two patents.The reputations of the two companies have been dented with constant court scrabbles. Apple won in their litigation against Samsung by that damaging Samsungs reputation slightly. Apple too was found to have copied some of the Samsung patents.Apple was compensated less than the company had anticipated.The campaign, on discouraging androids, has not been effective as other companies have been selling.Apple found to have violated one of the Samsung patents. However, the company is still free to sell the infringed devices to both the local market as well as other markets ( Hitt, Ireland, ‎Hoskisson, 119).
