SLIDE Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest exporter and producer of petroleum and the second largest producer of crude oil behind Russia. Oil exports earns the country 80 to 90 per cent of its total revenues. And forms 40% of the gross domestic product.The country is faced by the need for diversification in economy and increase in domestic energy demand, because of this it is committed to large-scale infrastructure investment on alternative energy sources to drive the economy and support the domestic business environment.

Saudi Arabia authorities are therefore taking measures towards initiating renewable energy strategies (AL-Abbadi, 2005).SLIDE 2Use of alternative energy has proved to be cost effective. Therefore implementing the strategies to exploit alternative will ensure business activities dependent on energy like production and marketing are carried out with cost efficiency therefore ensuring profit maximization by firms implementing this strategies (AL-Abbadi, 2005). By 2030 the country plans to be fully independent from the use of oil as the main source of its energy.
