Summary
The paper "Analysis of the Male Bobsleigh" tells that's bobsled is a Winter Olympics event that requires 2 or 4 men (except in 1928 when it was a 5-man event) to board a sledge and make timed runs down narrow, twisting, banked, iced tracks. These times are then added up to determine a team’s score…

That is, bobsled teams are winning the event with less time as the years go by. Moreover, the scatterplot provides evidence that a linear model would be an appropriate representation of the data because a line may be fitted to approximate the data points.

Since the Olympics occurs every four years, it may be more accurate to multiply the value of the slope by four before interpreting it. As such, we arrive with -0.1584, which represents the number of minutes by which the winning time differs for every Olympics. That is, if the winning time for the most recent Olympics is x minutes, the winning time for the next Olympics would be x – 0.1584 minutes. Further, the y-intercept for this data represents the first winning time, that is, the winning time in 1924. To find the winning time in the Men’s 4-Man Bobsled event for the next Olympics, which is in 2012, we subtract 1924 from 2012 to find the value for t.

This means that around 148 years from 1924, that is, during the 2072 Olympics, the Men’s 4-Man Bobsled event will be won in literally no time at all. Naturally, such a value and interpretation does not make sense because it would mean that the winning team will be able to complete the laps in zero minutes, which for now, is an impossible feat.
