Moreover, it outlines policies that ought to be formulated and implemented by the government, to promote security in the country. STARTING POINT As the world grapples with terrorism threats from Asian countries, insecurity in Mexico country is another issue that will require its immediate attention. On the positive face of this country, it is known for its beautiful sceneries and friendly climates that attract a large population across the globe. There has been a continuous increase in number of tourists making visiting Mexico in the past few decades. This makes tourism one of the main foreign exchange earners for the Mexican economy (Joyce, pg68). The rich culture of the Mexican people that have remained an altered by the technology has been the magnet to the people from all walks of life. However, the country of Mexico has its ugly picture that has for the past two decades given its neighbors and even the world a headache and sleepless night. It is known for transition groups, also known as cartels. These groups have smeared the beautiful image of Mexico with dirt through their illegal and heinous acts. Overview of insecurity According to the national system in charge of the public security in Mexico, the level of violence in the country has been on the rise for the past few years. In the year 2006, there were 10253 murders on the record, 11806 in 2007, 16811 in 2008, and 22480 murders in the year 2009. The masterminds of these deaths are the cartels who manslaughter the innocent civilian who stand on the way of the illegal activities. The center of conflict in this country revolves around the drug business. There is a lot of disagreement, competition and rivalry in the performance within the restrained drug routes and markets amongst the cartels. The outcome of the conflicts is a violent campaign of one group against the other. The other thorn on the wound has been the deployment of the military personnel by the government to end the drug business across the country’s border. This has not resolved the violence problem since the military uses force and fire exchange to control the cartels activities, hence contributing to the crises. As the aspect of jealousy continues to dominate in this drug related activities, other social crimes have cropped up. Their effects have left no segment of the society immune. The violence has given birth to the practices such as criminal gangs that deal with human trafficking, extortion, prostitution, kidnapping, retail and whole sellers of drugs and also extortion. What is witnessed in the process of spreading this ugly gospel is the exchange of fire between rival groups. For example, in 2011, there was an attempt to bring down a casino royale by a group that refers itself as Los Zetas as a way of communicating a warning to the owner. Despite the fact that there were innocent bystanders next to the casino, the criminals carried the act undeterred, resulting to death of more than 70 people. Policies It is evident that, the concept of insecurity in Mexico is real and policies that are feasible must be established to end the crises. The government has to seek an alternative method to curb the drugs which has energized the cartels. It has to establish the source of drugs and eliminate it once and for all. With regards to use of military in the fight against human and drug trafficking across the American border, the government should consider using the Interpol police together with the immigration department, in order to single out the individuals and also reduces the bitterness induced by the ruthless military. Furthermore, the government should equip the police with modern technology and knowledge to be able to address the crimes. Step 1; review of the education system The department responsible for the system of education should consider taking an overhaul of the system through reviews and public consultation. It should also establish a system that will equip the youth with the right education and give them hopefulness for the upcoming in the job market.. This will reduce the number of young people dropping out schools to get engaged in drugs peddling and trafficking (Campes, pg86). A technical system of education would impart practical skills to the youth. Therefore, they will be able to self-employ themselves and also serve as beneficial to the industrial section Step 2; fighting corruption Corruption is the other menace that has given room to the growth of insecurity in Mexico. By the fact that the officials in the various institutions have become greedy for more than they deserve, the criminals have gotten a leeway for their activities. The police force has been bought by the cartels; the legal system has also been swallowed by cartels pockets and also the migration officials. This makes it hard for the law enforcers to prosecute the lawbreakers, since those concerned in executing and implementing have been blindfolded (Asch, pg64). Therefore, corruption has to be wiped out of the administration if security has to thrive in Mexico. The discipline forces and officials have to stop collaborating with cartels in their activities. Step 3; improvement of the living standard We all agree that, despite the fact that drugs has contributed to the insecurity in Mexico, the living standards for most people, has also played a crucial role. Most people have turned in the drug business since they have nowhere else to support their lives. The government has to work hard in providing a genuine employment to the people to deter them from engaging in crimes and drug business (Bow, pg111). The government should be able to serve as a source of hope to its people. With regards to the foreigners, the host government has to carry the responsibility of protecting the foreign experts and tourist who are a supplement to the economy. Step 4; heavy penalty to the law breakers (cartels) With regards to lawbreakers, the government should consider formulating laws that heavily punish law breakers (Campes, pg58). Those found indulging in drugs should face life imprisonment. On the other hand, the violence masterminds should be sentenced to death. Step5; establishment of rehabilitation centers Rehabilitation centers should be established to provide treatment and social support to the drug addicts and also young children who have drowned in drugs business. Therefore, this means that, the government will be required to exercise force to evict victims from roads and also their hideout and ensure they get restrained in the rehabilitation centers. Conclusion It would be appropriate then to draw a conclusion that; the security issues in Mexico are real and can be solved. This is so if only the government is willing to set up other appropriate measures, in order to address the foundations of insecurity in the country. Government intervention is the final pillar to achieving the stability in Mexico. The authority has a role to undertake in order to convince the electorate that they can contain the situation.
