An application of the Structure-Conduct-Performance model to the transatlantic airline industry revealed that while the behavior of the key market players and corporate performance are resultant upon the structure of the market, there exists ample evidence of a more dynamic structure-conduct-performance model. The traditional S-C-P model fits closest to the theoretical model based on a perfect market competition. The intense competition is between the leading low-cost carriers and the network airlines.
