It basically highlights the very true notion existence of humans that humans are not sent on this earth for anyone motive, but the actual and true interpretation of our existence is way different than spending a normal lifestyle. Behind all natural things and mysteries, there is a notion of discovering our own self and the Almighty which can be done through exploring nature. This book of Davis had a real point and that is the reason the story and the photographs of the book were shown on National Geographic.

I have also read many other books and articles on the same theme. One of those is the books "The Book of Life: One man's search for the wisdom of Age" by Andrew Jackson deals with the same notion which I took from this book. The main theme of the book revolves around the fact that what is the reality of life and how can wisdom help in knowing the true life and the actual motive of man. The book is based on a story in which the narrator is narrating his story about a horrible car crash and the painful rehabilitation.

The narrator has forgotten everything but the one who is treating him tells him many of the details from her stories about their past life fit. Through these stories, the narrator is given a thought of discovering himself and I relate this theme with the theme of The light at the edge of the World as it teaches the same notion of discovering oneself not in the material world but in the spiritual world.
