Positive Attitude in the Working Environment

People change when they are moved from the state of fear to trust. Though the attitude cannot be changed overnight, but once it is changed it helps one to win over all the situations and succeed in life. By controlling negative thoughts and developing self confidence one can easily build a positive attitude.
Attitude is a quality that reflects one's personality. It is determined by a person's behavior or reaction to a particular situation. Attitude of a person is decided on the way he thinks and acts. It constitutes of what a person thinks, what he does and what he feels. Attitude consists of some components like affective, cognitive and behavioral. (Richard 1986). Each of the components explains the various reactions of a person. Affective component is composed of one's feelings and his assessment in a situation. The belief of an individual is included in cognitive component and behavioral component determines how a person acts. These components can be known by talking, observing the person or by their physical activities. Each individual may react differently in a given situation. Emotions play a vital part in everyone's life. The way of expressing their emotions may differ. One may exhibit anger while another may express some sort of frustration. A person should possess a positive attitude which will help them to lead a better life. ...

These people think about an object's advantages and disadvantages and do things accordingly. Hence they find it easier to decide what he wants and whether he needs it or not. Some people rely on their emotions instead of beliefs. This does not give importance to logic as it mainly involves a person's feelings. These people are said to possess attitude based on affective component. They do not trust on beliefs instead they just follow what their inner mind says.
This attitude based on affective component can also be formed by conditioning which may either be classical or operant. A person may develop an emotional bond with some information, color or an object. This is known as classical conditioning. Certain behaviors may be forced in to a person due to some action and this is referred to as operant conditioning. Behavioral attitude is determined by that person's behavior towards an object or a person.(Harrell 2000). Change in attitude can occur in any person at any point of time. It may be due to various reasons like social compulsion or a particular experience. Attitude cannot be changed immediately, it may require some time. It is difficult for a person to change his emotions rather he can try and change the way he behaves. Any person wants to change his emotions instead of changing the way he thinks. Negative thoughts always lead to attitude that reflects negative approach and behavior toward life. (ET ...Show more
