Should the U.S military be required to standardize the Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) data on all the aircraft that are in their current inventories

To arrive at a conclusion whether it is handy and secure to standardize the FOQA data is all but easy. A discussion on the question whether the military of the US should standardize the data or not is of great significance in this context. There are many arguments put forward in defence of the standardization of the flight operations quality assurance data. Flight Safety Foundation (FSF) which has been "a vigorous advocate of flight operational quality assurance (FOQA) programs," has conducted various workshops that published a study report of the flight security issues. This serves as the blueprint for FOQA progress in the United States. (Flight Operations Quality assurance (FOQA), 2007). This system is effectively used in many countries by the airlines of several countries. It has a record as a proven tool for preventing aircraft accidents and other valuable aids. The standardization of this data means greater quality assurance of the flights. ...
Flight safety issues are a hot point of discussion considering the fact that flight accidents cause significant damage to both life and property. Since the number of people who are directly affected by flight mishaps is significant, it needs to be said that safety operations that involve flights must be given their due share when safety procedures and operations are designed. However, in spite of the safety that such systems impart to the existing system, there are certain issues that prevent the adoption of FOQA in military aircraft. Issues such as data privacy and integrity are important concerns for nations and therefore any activity, even if they provide better safety levels, have to be considered under the security scanner before they are given a green signal to be deployed.
Flight operations quality assurance (FOQA) programs, involve the collection and analysis of data recorded during a flight. It may be used to improve the safety of flight operations, air traffic control procedures, and airport and aircraft design and maintenance. The use of this program will allow engineers to assess the cause of an accident by analysing the data that is generate during the flight of the craft. Since most accidents that happen are a result of human errors, analysing and controlling them will help analysts to control dangers that may arise out of flying errors caused by pilots. Flight Operational Quality Assurance Program, according to Department of Transportation, primarily focuses to "enhance aviation safety." (Flight operational quality assurance program, 2001). The data helps in improving flight crew performance, operational procedures, air ...Show more

Summary

The US military quality assurance has grown increasingly concerned over the past few years in standardizing the Flight Operations Quality assurance (FOQA). There have been different types of views about the standardization of the FOQA data. The definition "FOQA data means any digital flight data that has been collected from an individual aircraft pursuant to an FAA-approved FOQA program, regardless of the electronic format of that data" points to the significance of quality assurance of the flights…
