Lanval without any doubt is the story of love. It fascinates the reader and makes him feel the love between the knight and his lady. The reader feels happiness and pleasure after knowing the purity and truthfulness of the lovers.Love is an emotion that comes from the inside and makes a person forget everything except the person he loves. This feeling can make one brave and forget his boundaries. Thus, it can be compared to knighthood as being a knight gives one the same feeling as in love. As one knight gets brave and courageous when completing a task, love also makes one that brave and courageous.

It makes the person realize his power and provides him with the bravery to fight with everyone for the sake of his love. Similarly, one knight leaves behind his fear when pursuing his enemy. Tristan and Yseut is a tragic love tale that is told and retold by the people. The love between Princess Yseut (daughter of King Anguish of Ireland) and King's nephew and knight Tristan, started on due to a love potion. The potion was for Mark (Yseut's fiance) and Yseut. The potion had the power to create love between people whoever drink it.

During the way back to Cornwall Tristan felt thirst and drank some of the potion not recognizing the nature of the potion and also offered some to Yseut. The immature couple then fell terribly and extremely in love. The love as described in both the stories is of an extreme nature. Both couples do not get married. Yet the readers feel much happiness and contentment after completing Lanval, because of the ending of the story and their true love without any inclusion of potion's power. However, the love as described in the other story started due to the power of the love potion.

Both stories possess their own value and are of great importance in English literature of middle age.
