Over the years, organisations have come to form the ISO 9000 Standards. This is a result of the unification of various organisations and federations throughout the world. It is a set of rules and procedures, or simply standards, for organisations to follow in their quest for excellence and quality management. Many organisations use the Standards as basis for self assessment and excellence.
