In this context, job satisfaction becomes an important human resource management strategy that would ensure the petroleum industry of its human resource needs. Job satisfaction refers to the perceptions and feelings of the employees about the different aspects of their work. Human resources form part of the investment of companies particularly those that require high levels of knowledge and skills from employees like in the petroleum industry.
Qatar Petroleum (QP) the national company in the State of Qatar regards its human resources as their most valuable assets. Therefore the Company allocates, huge budget for training and development of Qatari manpower to prepare them for various positions in their projects and also to take over from expatriates currently managing the positions. For that, QP has put a 'Qatarization' plan (the identification and development of quality, competent Qatari males and females to assume permanent positions in the Oil and Gas industry) which no doubt requires the continued support and commitment of the experienced Qatari as well as the expatriate staff, at all levels, to develop and train Qatari new comers and help them gain valuable on-the-job experience.
ThisThis study is considered to be the first of its kind in advanced academic projects leading to the degree of Master in Business Administration undertaken to study the employee job satisfaction in the Oil, Gas, Energy and Industry sectors in the state of Qatar. The purpose of this study is to measure and analyse Job satisfaction of the Qatari employee's working in the Oil, Gas, Energy and Industry sectors; by examining how the personal and environmental factors affect job satisfaction. The findings in this study show, that the Qatari employee working in the Oil, Gas, Energy and Industry sectors in the State of Qatar are highly satisfied with the progress they have made in their jobs which is a natural consequence of the rapid growth in the Qatari economy.
