10 July 2007 Essay Questions Every one wants to succeed but few people either take time to study success or have guts to achieve success. Similarly everybody hates to be a failure, yet few people spare time and energy to either investigate the root causes of failure or to learn a lesson to amend them to avoid future mistakes. As every success opens the new horizons of self-confidence, pleasures and containment, similarly the impact of failure can cause lasting damage to self-esteem and the consequences can influence an entire lifetime. The same argument is also applied for academic career too. There are numerous factors that can influence the students' academic career. These factors can be related to students financial, social or psychological status, teachers' behavior and their teaching methods, lack of commitment to study, problems with learning environment, problems with subject content and examinations systems unsatisfactory relationship with family, future concerns related to chosen field of study or problems of time management. Although most of the students manage to cut through these barriers based on their motivation and perception of their goals yet a reasonable number of students' romaine handicap to tackle their problems and hence they fail (Aysan, 1). The following sections highlight few of the factors that really affect the academic career. (a) Financial Problems: Money is a substantial entity for living as we all need money to buy essential things required for our survival. Money also plays a vital role for academic career. In order to enter and attend a college or university a student has to pay his education stipends and if he is facing financial problems then his academic career will obviously be affected. Some institutions offer different means like students loans and scholarships to at least marginalize the financial problems in academic career. (b) Teachers' behavior and teaching method: Teaches behaviors and their teaching methodology also has an effective contribution to students' academic success or failure. For a very good professional teacher it is necessary that he should be a good communicator, a disciplinarian, a conveyor of information, an evaluator, a classroom manager, a counselor, a decision maker, a role model, and a surrogate parent. These qualities required practice, skills and effective teaching methodology (Dolasir, 2). (c) Drug: It is a well known fact that many students are also involved in drug addiction. The use of any type of drugs greatly affects human body as drugs deteriorate the very functionality of human body and hence result the lose of life objectives including the academic career. (d) Social problems: Social disproportions and unsatisfactory relationship with family or friends can also bring the students to the brinks of failure. Since academic study or research demands concentration yet social unevenness diverges the human concentration and greatly influence the human psyche. (d) Commitment to study and time management: Lack of commitment to study and time mismanagement is also major contributor to student failure. Lack of commitment results the precious time lose and hence time mismanagement. Works Cited Aysan, Ferda. Achievement of an effective life objective or goal is essentially related a number of key qualities and passion and understanding of these key qualities play a vital role in success. Following are few important qualities that play an important role in any success. Integrity and honesty to an objective are two great secrets for achieving any milestone in life is integrity and honesty with your objective. Integrity and honesty lead to success and hence a happy life. When we were little children we were told we should be honest, and we were told this meant telling the truth. We were given this simple meaning because we were too young and inexperienced to fully understand the success technique of honesty and integrity. Although no one can properly define these concepts, we all know what they mean. By putting aside our childish definitions, we can understand and live these concepts and reap all the benefits. Buoyancy and optimism are also a very important characteristics in achieving an objective. Any optimistic or pessimistic attitude reflects mental view or disposition, especially as it indicates opinion or allegiance. A half-hearted effort will give either a half-hearted result or probably no result at all. Your optimism and buoyancy guide your motivations towards achieving your desired result for all the "right" reasons. You need to accept absolutely, and without reservation, that you are personally responsible as creator of every aspect of your life for everything that "happens" to you, for your every action and your every experience. You are the cause, and you experience the results (The Life Magic Keys to Achievement, part.1). Factors Involved in Making a Choice The choice or selection of an academic career is an important issue for most of the present day youth as it encircles whole life planning and achievements. It is a good practice that before choosing an academic career few key factors should be considered. The first thing that should be considered while choosing a career is its motivation. The personal motivation about a particular area of study can either make or break the objective issue. The specific elements that make up motivation are its desire, passion, will, focus and determination. Along with motivation, an aptitude towards particular is another important factor that should be consider while making a choice. The ability is the possession of the qualities required to do something. If you have the ability to do a particular task then you will be able to do it, if you wish to (are motivated to). Self- confidence and belief in yourself and your abilities are also play a key role while selecting a career. Belief is a principle, idea, etc., accepted as true or real, especially without positive proof; trust or confidence in a person or a person's abilities, integrity, etc. Self-confidence also stimulates and initiates the practical steps towards achieving the career objectives. Except these factors there may be many other things including the money required for a particular area of choice and its returns, should also be taken into account. These things may be specific to the choice and need an assessment before making any decision. Consultant to City Manager As a consultant to city manager to any US city there can be a number of things can be initiated. Since crimes, violence, scarcity of services and utility related facilities, unemployment, drugs, pollution and lack of residential facilities are common problems for all major cities, therefore to curb these issues different steps can be suggested and initiated. For example to tackle lawlessness, crime and violence to improve public safety, the law enforcement agencies can redeployment, also drug trafficking can be stemmed by tracking down its roots causes using local and regional resources.
