Why I chose to pursue nursing as a career As a girl, I remember, Florence Nightingale had been my idol, long before I got my Barbies and Uno Cards. It always brought me immense happiness to be of some service to my fellow human beings. So, when I passed out of High School, it seemed most logical to choose nursing as a profession. The training I have received till now in the field of nursing has prepared me to not only assist doctors in their work, but also take care of administrative and supervisory responsibilities in my workplace.

I have attended and participated in multidisciplinary CP meetings, assisted nurse managers with ulcer rounds, wound care management and communicated with team members regarding residents' care. I have also taken care of Discharge planning, managing the completion of the monthly summaries, psych monitoring, GT feedings, oxygen therapy and rehabilitation. Organizing outside clinic appointments and follow up care have also been an integral part of my job. As a Patient Care Specialist, I have had ample experience in providing HIV counseling and testing.

Why do you want to pursue baccalaureate preparation in nursingAfter having worked as a registered nurse, it was important to upgrade my skills to keep pace with the rapid developments taking place in the medical field. Today, nurses need to be prepared to practice in a variety of innovative health care settings within a context of rapid global and technological change. A Baccalaureate from one of the best colleges would provide me the essential components of a nursing career in the challenging practice environment of nursing and health care.

Qualities I possess that will enable me to perform effectively as a student and later as a practicing nurse I view myself as an enthusiastic person, always ready to learn and explore new subjects. I am willing to put in effort and work for higher qualifications, since learning is a life-long process. I have adequate computer knowledge and am very comfortable using applications required in day to day operations in the health care industry. I keep track of latest trends in the filed of medicine and health care, thus making me a willing student now and a responsible nurse in my career.

I feel I am a critical thinker, one who can utilize, transmit, and develop new knowledge through systematic models of scholarly inquiry1.How can nursing address and improve global healthcare needs In my opinion, a nurse's role is as important as a doctor's in providing healthcare to patients. While a doctor specializes in diagnosing and treating a disease in a matter of minutes or at the most, a few hours, a nurse has the bigger responsibility of reassuring the patient and his family, taking detailed care of the patient's needs, and making sure the doctors's instructions are adhered to strictly.

A nurse who is technically qualified to handle testing equipments can replace or stand by for technicians in case of an emergency. He/she can be trusted to handle emergencies till the concerned doctor is able to treat the patient. With every area of work being automated, the future belongs to people who can adopt themselves to a culturally diverse environment, be tech-savvy and always consider life as a never-ending learning process.Reference:http://www.sage.edu/academics/schoolofnursingandhealthsciences/nursing/index.
