THERAPIES FOR STROKE Introduction The major manifestation of cerebrovascular disease is called as Stroke or brain attack, which is also referred to as the sudden onset of a focal neurological deficit. Any type of pathophysiologic vascular disease of the brain is referred to as cerebrovascular disease. Abnormality of the vessel, blood flow or quality of the blood describes a pathology. Many processes such as developmental defects, arteritis, aneurism, hypertensive disease, vasoconstriction and atherosclerosis describes abnormalities of the vessel. The disease of the vessels or the thrombotic or embolic processes may affect the blood flow. Decrease in blood flow, which can sometimes lead to ischemia, or bleeding are often associated with the changes in the brain, though ischemia can be present with or without brain tissue infarction. The neurologic manifestation is because of the insult in the brain and the extent of ischemia, or infarct, or hemorrhage (Dipiro et al 375).
